2026 Celebrity Death Pool

It’s My Favorite Murder; it was originally a true crime podcast, but based on recent reviews they’ve shifted over to more historical crimes. (I opted to start listening from the first episode, so I’m a few hundred episodes behind at this point.) It’s my understanding that the podcast was occasionally categorized as comedy by various platforms early in its run, since it’s hosted by two comedians. The language definitely isn’t for everyone, and it is one of those shows where the hosts spend a few minutes at the beginning discussing recent life events. They haven’t discussed the podcast name too much; I think the last time it came up was when another casually-named true crime podcast updated their name?

Oh for chrissakes. I’ve heard of that podcast, and it never occurred to me that it was anything “dark web” or whatever. Maybe because the people who have discussed it went into detail about the content, not just the title.

I’m sad to report former Minnesota Viking Joey Browner, a badass on the field and all around good guy when off, has passed away.

He was 35 points for me.

John Nolan, Actor in Batman Films and ‘Person of Interest,’ Dies at 87.

Various sources

Former MLB player and manager Phil Garner has died at 76.

Asha Bhosle, the subject of that famous Cornershop song.

He was terrific as Greer, the main bad guy of PoI.

Sid Krofft, 0f Sid and Marty Krofft kid show fame, has died at age 96.

For those tracking next year’s nominees; here’s Dick Vitale.
ESPN Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Vitale announced he has melanoma in his lung and liver cavity and will be starting immunotherapy soon.

Vitale, one of the preeminent faces of men’s college basketball, has battled four different types of cancer in the past few years and most recently underwent surgery in the summer of 2024 after a biopsy of a lymph node in his neck showed cancer.

“I’ve beaten melanoma. I’ve beaten lymphoma. I’ve beaten vocal cord cancer. I’ve beaten lymph node cancer,” Vitale, 86, said in a statement Monday. “I’m four-for-four and I’m fully confident I’m going to make it five-for-five.”

Melanoma in the lungs and liver? That’s a new one.

Melanoma is a type of cancer, typically skin cancer; it develops from the melanin-producing cells known as melanocytes.[1] It typically occurs in the skin, but may rarely occur in the mouth, intestines, or eye (uveal melanoma).[1][2] In very rare cases melanoma can also happen in the lung, which is known as primary pulmonary melanoma and only happens in 0.01% of primary lung tumors.[7]

Guy rolled a 1. Dunno about liver.

Heard this this morning and as a resident of Atlanta, one time home of The World of Sid and Marty Krofft, came to share but checked the thread first.

We may not have known her name, but we all remember her well.

Often by the time it reaches the skin, it’s already worked its way through the body, which is why it’s so hard to cure.

Where do we keep the dubious emoji?
