While I had heard about him until very recently, he seems to be well-known among posters here:
I heard about him when “out of the loop” on reddit explained who he was. I’m betting suicide. Lots of things came to light and the life he built up was coming down.

This is extremely sad - to be so young and have so much promise, only to have your life cut short like this.

And speaking of young sportspeople dying of brain injuries:
Colon was 23 when he suffered a brain injury following a fight in 2015 and has been in a coma ever since.
Agreed. Just living life with no thoughts of anything wrong and then destroyed in 5 seconds.
The guy they named Tommy John surgery after has died.

He was on my 2027 short list. At the recent Yankees Old Timers Day they read a letter saying goodbye. Sure it was probably written by the family and not him but it was a nice touch.
I just saw that Hayden Panettiere has died. She was 36.

Me too. I wonder what the heck happened.
I’ve never been a big baseball fan, but I always heard that Tommy John was just a class act from start to finish. RIP.
I had the opportunity to meet and have a conversation with Panettiere back during her “Heroes” days. She was very engaging and seemed genuine.
Sad news.
mmm
How did that come to be? That’s really cool.
Ugh.
Screaming Mad George has died. His real name was Joji Tani, but he went by Screaming Mad George for a long time. He did amazing makeup and prosthetic effects for movies.
Society was probably his biggest showcase of effects and is also a pretty amazing movie. He directed The Guyver with Mark Hamil starring in it.
Sad news.

She came to my workplace on a public relations visit. I spoke with her briefly after the event and I came away very impressed with her as a person.

Mel Harden , half of the one hit wonder 60’s Motown duo Mel and Tim, died July 26, leaving 16 points on the charts.
Originally the statement was no suspicion of foul play.
Later it was updated to no signs of physcal trauma.
Considering her openness regarding her mental health issues, including postpartrum depression and addiction, it’s likely death by medication.
Maybe accidental; maybe intentional. Sad either way.
