2026 Masters Golf Tournament

I did not see a thread discussing this.

We are in the closing stages of the second round and one of the pre-tournament favorites, Bryson DeChambeau has missed the cut with a spectacular triple bogey on his 36tb hole.

And then a minute later THE pre tournament favorite (Sorry Scottie) drains a very long chip shot from a long way to get to 11 under and a five shot lead. An indication of how far he was is that he couldn’t see that the ball had gone in. He realized it when the crowd went wild. Er, I mean when the patrons enthusiastically but decorously expressed their approval.

It’s 12:30 am Georgia time and Bryson DeChambeau is out practicing his bunker play.

I honestly can’t tell if you’re joking or not.

Meanhoo, the defending champ is torching the course and the field.

McIlroy’s six-shot lead after 36 holes is a tournament record for the largest lead at that point.

Before he teed off on the 12th hole, he was tied for the lead. He made six birdies in the last seven holes.

The lead is going to be next to nothing now as Cameron Young and a bunch of others are making a heck of a run at Rory.

Young put it in the water on the 15th a few minutes ago, but followed up with a beauty to drop only one shot. And then Rory put it in the water on the tenth.

It’s all happening at Augusta National!

Young has the lead by one over Rory as he tees off at 17.

And immediately hits a tree.

Well it’s been a rollercoaster ride on the last day as we go into the final hour.

Four players chasing Rory, and they are all Big Names. Scheffler, Rose, Young and Henley. Henley is also tied second in the clubhouse at -10, but that’s not going to win it today.

Rory with a 2-shot lead with 4 holes to play looks formidable. It’s his to win.

That was very enjoyable. Great recovery shot on the last hole.

Feel bad for Rose, my favorite golfer of the last decade. Wheels came off a bit after the turn today, but it was Rory’s day and week.

Helluva way for Rory to hang in there-you know he’ll have insane hot streaks, and deep doldrums, and almost bit the dust again on that wedge into 15, but got away with it, and definitely deserved his repeat. Am surprised nobody else to to -12 tho.

Rory is just the 4th repeat Masters champion: Jack Nicklaus in 1965 and 1966; Nick Faldo in 1989 and 1990; Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002.

Justin Rose was the last guy I expected to have a shocking collapse.

Taking nothing away from Rory, but, damn, it seemed like every challenger had at least one putt that was sooooooooooooooooooo close to dropping.

and Sergio had a meltdown

Rory had his share of those too.
