2026 nfl draft

Thats why he was a 2nd rounder, not a first. Nice value.

Bears coming up soon. I have no idea what to expect any more. The Edge and DT groups are pretty depleted, though I could get excited about Zxavian Harris, and not just for the Scrabble score.

Gennings Dunker might be the funnest possible pick, doubling up on Iowa IOLs isn’t a bad strategy.

Sarratt is an enticing option, but after taking a TE, adding a WR feels kind of indulgent at this point.

Mike Washington could be interesting.

I’m glad he dropped down to the third round. Good pick up for the Giants. I’m giving them an A for the first 3 rounds.

So either a rookie 3rd rounder or Jacoby Brisette as their starting QB next season. I would go with Beck.

What the fuck…the Bears and 3rd Round picks, a match made in hell.

Maybe they confused Zxavian and Zavion? Ugh, not having fun right now. I wanted a WR, but you know, a guy with at least a little production would have been nice. We basically took a KR/PR with our 3rd round pick. Hester 2.0? Lol.

From Zavion’s draft profile…

  • Miscellaneous: Distant relative of late Pro Football Hall of Fame RB Walter Payton.

So I guess it al makes sense now.

So some people think Zavion Thomas could show value as a runner out of the backfield. I’m imagining a scheme where BJ has Thomas constantly motioning out of and into the backfield to create match up problems. Maybe he’d be in the huddle alongside Monangai on 3rd down making defenses gamble with base personnel against 2 backs and 2 TEs.

But, seems like a pretty safe bet we could have gotten this guy in the 5th round…

Greatest mullet in college is going to Pittsburgh. That’s so fitting.

I’ve caught a vignette this morning about one of the draftees.

New Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love has high functioning autism. His parents never had him formally diagnosed, but it seemed evident from all of the discussion of him “not relating to other people” and “being different”. Nevertheless, they and their son have embraced his unique personality, which he has channeled into athletic success.

Love has even produced a comic book to describe his “super powers”.

He’ll be an interesting addition to the league.

Getting through the meat of the draft. I’ve always found rounds 3-5 to be the most interesting. Those are the guys who, while usually never becoming absolute studs (there are exceptions of course), but they’re the guys who will be starters and play a big part in your roster building.

I’m thrilled the Packers got EDGE Dani Dennis-Sutton in the 4th round. Great value (consensus big board had him at 73, so 120 is great. Especially after the massive reach in the 3rd round to grab … let’s see, because I have to check his name again … some dude named McClellan.

Pissed they passed on some real talent (I would’ve loved Rayshaun Benny or even Garrett Nussmeier) to reach for an underacheiving (but spectacularly fast and athletic) headcase in Domani Jackson.

Ah well. I’ll just have a lie down and dream of a fully rehabbed Micah Parsons…

I’m pleased that Seattle went into the draft with only 4 picks (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th) and through trades ended up with (so far) 7 picks. They’ve added an extra pick in the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds. And still got a few solid early round picks; they haven’t traded away much, really only moving back a few picks. Good moves by John Schneider.

Now let’s see how many of these drafted players work out, but there’s a lot of promise, and all in positions of need.

Seattle must have traded again because I now only see 1 pick in the 6th round but 3 in the 7th.

Giants had no 4th or 5th round picks but 3 6th round. I’m a little surprised about who they got. To be honest I wasn’t watching and I don’t know who was available. Picking up Jamison-Travis is puzzling. I wouldn’t have thought they would go for another D tackle. He’s described as a “project” in some analysis and that’s never a good thing. J.C. Davis seems like a good late pick up. Can never have too many good O tackles and he may be help right away. Jack Kelly seems like a decent pick at line backer.

I’m surprised they didnt try to grab a running back or maybe a tight end to back up Likely.

The Jets surprised me by trading up and taking Klubnik. That’s a strange QB room they have. I really don’t know what they were thinking.

Neither does the New York Post.

Klubnik, 22, was the top high school player in the country in 2022 but never lived up to that billing at Clemson. He played a lot of football, starting 40 games for the Tigers, but never seemed able to take the step people expected of becoming one of the top quarterbacks in the country and leading Clemson to championships.

The selection of Klubnik was a shock because most draft rankings had him going later in the draft. Dane Brugler of The Athletic and Mel Kiper of ESPN had him as their No. 8 quarterback. Scouts Inc. had him No. 11. He ended up being the fifth quarterback taken. LSU’s Grant Nussmeier was still on the board when the Jets took Klubnik.

The Jets did not only take Klubnik higher than anyone anticipated, they made a trade to jump 18 spots to take him.

It reminds me of when people make Amazon purchases while drunk.

The Jets just cant help Jetsing. Maybe Woody Johnson’s sons liked Klubnik in EA Sports College Football.

On the QB front I was surprised to see Athan Kaliakmanis get drafted. More surprising is he got drafted and Garrett Nussmeier didn’t go until almost the end. I watched a lot of Rutgers football and although he has a lot of heart I don’t think he has the talent for the pros.

7 more picks to go but it looks like no Diego Pavia. That doesn’t surprise me. I would stay as far away from that hot mess as possible.

Just a guess but I think they were counting on Ty Simpson in the first round. They looked at a bunch of teams in front of them that were set at QB for next season and thought he would drop to them. So they took a tight end? :man_shrugging:t2:

Who knows what the future holds but Nussmeier looks like a better choice, he was still available and they didn’t have to trade for him.

I think he’s being seen as potentially the next Johnny Manziel, and nobody wants that.

The Whole Schtick Gets Old’ — NFL Scout Reveals the Real Reason Diego Pavia May Go Undrafted

And yeah, draft has ended and Pavia has had no interest.

Maybe someone will let him try out as a UDFA but who knows.

I think Manziel had a lot more talent than Pavia. Of course he wasted it. Pavia was listed at 5’10” at the combine but standing next to the other Heisman candidates he looked tiny. The game is hard on short quarterbacks. More importantly he comes across like a total handjob.

Since Uar Bernard has never played organized football, his “college” was listed as “Nigeria”.
Packers it only draft a kicker, but trade up — that was, umm, interesting.

Brian

I was confused; I now see that you’re talking about two different draft picks. Uar Bernard was drafted by the Eagles (maybe as a defensive lineman, maybe as an offensive lineman, but a project for sure); the Packers drafted Florida kicker Trey Smack (which is a pretty good name for a kicker, as a field goal is worth 3).

I suspect that, given Brandon McManus’s injury issues last year, the Packers want to look at options in training camp.

When Jordan Mialata was drafted he was listed as “South Sydney Rabbitohs.” That 233rd pick worked out pretty well.

He seems like a promising kicker too, and a late round pick. Seems like a good move to me.
