2nd Simpson Episode 5/8 Spoilers!

Freakin’ brilliant having Jesus messed up by his trip down here! Damn, that was a funny ep! The whole “Left Below” business was great.

Yeah, the “Left Below” stuff made it one of the better episodes this season. The first episode tonight had one great bit: the Paul Simon newspaper headline. The accompanying photo with the handcuffed Simon was golden.

Did you catch the iGod poster in the bookstore?

The Simpsons is my third alternative at 8 p.m. on Sunday nights, but with Cold Case not looking very appetizing – I don’t like the shows where the case is from too far back, because even if they catch the bad guy, the bad guy has been able to live a pretty full life and won’t serve all that much time in jail – and Enterprise being an episode that I already saw on Friday, I was able to check in with Homer and the gang for the first time in a while. I thought both episodes were pretty snappy!

That was a good spoofing, although they seemed to have no idea how to end the show. As a fan, I liked the Los Lobos jokes and their version of the theme song. On the other hand I was grinding my teeth when they recycled the stupid “hey, let’s parody ‘Who Let the Dogs out’” joke. Come on, guys. You had the Baha Men guest star and do that before. It was only two seasons ago, you did it twice that episode, and it wasn’t so funny that it needed to be done again. :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought it was kind of interesting that they made a second Greensleeves joke this season, too.

The Thread title made me think we were going to spoil 62.5% of the 2nd Simpson Episode.

We really enjoyed this episode. It seemed to be back to being irreverent again (if only for one episode). Jesus on the swing was great.

“Oh, why did I choose to be gay?”

I hit “submit” too soon, as usual.

At first, I thought the first episode was a repeat when they did the “Get Smart” opening sequence. Didn’t they already do that opening? Or am I mistaking it for some other show?

The first episode was ghastly—their annual “Yeardley Smith has it in her contract that she gets to sing” waste of time. But the “Left Below” episode follwing made up for it—poor little Jesus! He looked so pathetic.

And the Last Supper recreation in Moe’s Bar at the end was the capper.

Did anyone else notice god had 4 fingers and a thumb for a total of 5 on his hand?

Homer, of course, was drawn with the standard 3+1 configuration so famous in cartoons.

Damn damn damn.

I was so proud of myself for spotting this and I miss the glory by 8 minutes.

Damn you!

Couch gags are often reused for a second time each season (though I think this is the third for the Get Smart parody) I believe the second episode’s opener, where the family has Moe’s face, is a reuse too.

Homer’s a pretty good songwriter, isn’t he?

“Not affiliated with American Idol. We’ve never even heard of American Idol.”

“You? That’s me!”

Ah, thank you. Now I know I’m not crazy. Well…in this case anyway.

“Hey, hey HEY! Let’s get this over with!”

Actually, they depicted God with four fingers and a thumb the first time He was featured on the show in the “Homer the Heretic” episode.

Urph. But at least it wasn’t their godawful parody of Evita. Man, what the hell were they thinking when they made that episode?

Does Yeardley Smith actually have that in her contract? I’m not sure if you’re joking or not. But it’s hard to imagine any other reason for such craptacular shows.

Sorry, I was surprised myself to be the first to post that!
