Good point?
It’s especially in context that we should consider the voice an instrument. And I’d love to see a video of fachverwirrt singing “vesti la giubba.”
Then Hannah From Montana. John Schirmer red book.
So much for my Yakety Sax suggestions though Chet Akins could play it on the guitar.
I can play Love Me Do on the harmonica. A few other songs as well but it’s my favorite.
I can play the whole Beatles catalog with my voice.
Hooray.
I can play along with “Je’taime”, onanistically.
Whoopee!
I’m a self-taught, don’t-play-much type of guitar player. I have a few books of sheet music and have taught myself a few songs. Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” was the first song I figured out how to play all on my own.
You really enjoy being the turd in the punch bowl for threads, don’t you?
Dude, we’re hearing all kinds of stuff. If someone posts a link to Twinkle Twinkle on piano, that’s “better for this thread” vs. someone singing some badass opera?
Why take the time? It’s a fun thread.
drad dog If you cannot participate in music threads without threadshitting or being rude, stay out of them. You will start earning warnings for this behavior.
Unfortunately this drummer can’t sit behind a kit and come up with ANY beat that will make someone (especially a casual listener) immediately identify it and go: “oh that tune!”
Steve Miller’s “Swingtown” is maybe the only example of an immediately identifiable beat. Or if I had a cowbell, then maybe “Honky Tonk Women”. Or the beginning of Zep’s “Rock and Roll”. Or The Zombie’s distinct, almost jazzy “Time of the Season”.
Other than that, all us drummers can do is provide the foundation while my bandmates flesh out the tune.
Led Zep’s Rock n’ Roll = direct lift, an homage, if you will, of Little Richard’s You Keep Knockin’ But You Can’t Come In: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYr7I4gOSXk
How about Walk this Way? Plenty of great beats that stand out!!
No video, and it’s just the last phrase: Ridi, Pagliaccio.
Inadmissible. The OP specified “musical instruments.”
(Note to mods: DRUMMER JOKES ARE ACCEPTED AS THE MOST VENERABLE FORM OF MUSICIAN “HUMOR” PLEASE DON’T GIVE ME A WARNING)
Wow - that’s you?! Very cool!!! I went back and listened to the movie version - they are at about the same speed, but yours sounds slower, in a good way - I feel like I hear your voice and emotions coiling up behind the big release even more, if that makes sense.
Thank you for sharing!
Ukulele Ike - too funny! One of my drummers would take the time to point out this sign at a local park we sometimes drove past: “Shared Public Space: No Music or Drumming Allowed.” He was convinced some piano player was on the city council.
One of MY drummers thinks “five to the bar” is when the combo goes on break.
I take a little more time on the last high note on “infranto” (just enough time to crack!). Corelli’s is probably more authentic, but mine is more fun.
Thanks for the comments!
(I am in no way comparing myself to Corelli. Man was a god.)
Wow, actually made me tear up, and I don’t generally do that for opera. Thank you!
Does a touch-tone, landline telephone count as an instrument? If so, I got “Mary Had a Little Lamb”.
If not, I got nothin’.
It beats being a drummer.
What - no warning to the mods about Drummer abuse this time?
And: nice pun. “beats” “drummer” - ha.
I totally wish I could play drums. I often describe my guitar playing as that of a frustrated drummer.
I guess I’ll keep that in mind, Ukulele Ike.
