Youtube Music To Keep Me Entertained

There’s nothing like music to make a boring and repetitive task slightly less dull.

So what do you like on Youtube. All genres of music are accepted! New R&B and reggaeton aren’t music, btw.

Right now, I’m listening to Heart/Ann Wilson covers of Led Zeppelin songs. She really nails them.

Going To CaliforniaImmigrant Song
Black Dog
Rock And Roll
and Stairway To Heaven too!

I don’t really like that they’re live but, oh well.

Your title is catchy enough that I’m going to use this post in your thread as a handy reference source for all the YouTube Music threads I have participated in (or started) in recent times. Not every post in every thread is a valid YouTube link, but many are. Many of these threads have links to other threads to explore.

The numbers in each case are the number of posts (at the time I took the snapshot) to give you a clue as to how much is in that thread. I have included a few with very few posts (one with 3) but those are some good threads to look at.

I hope at least one of these helps entertain you!

May I ask if you’ve “joined” YouTube? If not, do so and build you a Favorites list and some Playlists. I have pushing 200 such things and can use the “shuffle” option and just start mine playing and know that I won’t hear anything I don’t like.

Many of the links in that long post I put up are dead now, but if you look in the “Related Videos” there’s a good chance the specific clip I linked to has an alternate (perhaps of the same performance or a decent cover) that you could add to your Favorites – if you like it, of course.

Just a suggestion or two.

Related Videos are nice, but I want to hear things that I wouldn’t normally listen to.

Thanks for the list of threads though, I’m going to go through most of them today, while I staple hundreds of papers. :smack:

I can understand the search for new stuff recommended by folks you can accept as having similar interests or tastes.

I had almost started a thread of this type myself, which is why I jumped on yours so readily. Keeping tabs of 30 pages worth of threads can be a little daunting when all you really want is a list of the music stuff you’ve liked.

Same could be said for other broad topics like TV shows, Movies, Food, and the other things CS is good for.

In the checking I did of those old threads in my list, it’s sad that so many of the good links are to dead clips. But that happens. I have relocated and re-favorited (love that word!) some of my real favorites several times and YouTube (or the poster) keeps taking them down. Copyright issue? Most likely. Even so, it’s a good way to have some music you like available at a click.

I would add the new thread on Favorite “Rock” Instrumental if I were you! Some real goodies there already and it’s going strong.

Literal videos-Original lyrics are replaced with lyrics that describe the action on-screen.

Total Eclipse Of The Heart.
Making Love Out Of Nothing At All.
Take On Me.
Billie Jean.

Junior Wells & Buddy Guy, Messin’ with the Kid

Filter, Take a Picture

Weird Al, Trapped in the Drive Thru

Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Theme from Shaft

A Kid singing Jambalaya with Hank Williams Jr.

This just made my jaw drop when a friend showed it to me: Bireli Lagrene

Don’t let the nasty chords he’s playing at the beginning turn you off–it gets good about a minute or so in, and it gets amazing after that.

For something a bit more fun, the Fraggle Rock theme on acoustic guitar. I’ve been trying to get the dude to send me the tab…

Camille O’Sullivan doing a cover of Nick Cave’s Mercy Seat

Cinematic Orchestra, To Build A Home

Beirut, Nantes

Joe Hisaishi, A wish to the moon

Tom Hickox, Let me be your lover

The Imagined Village - Space Girl

MacFarlane singing in the rain

The song is catchy, and the video itself is a lot of fun: Röyksopp’s “Happy Up Here”.

I would encourage others who would like a handy reference to YouTube related posts (especially music) to post in this thread with links to threads of note. My links all involve threads where I had at least one post and they help serve as a handy reference to threads I might want to go look at again.

That’s a great idea. I haven’t been on the boards as much lately but this will help out a lot.

Thanks for your support. I was hoping you would approve of my jumping on your thread this way. I had been a while myself needing to refer to it, and had to go look it up.

I stopped before the most recent threads to give them time to get past the “current posts” point. Maybe I can remember to update this thread again in another few months – as opposed to 8!
