30 for 30: Bad Boys

Well, that brought back memories.

I always thought the Isiah Thomas era Pistons got short shrift even as a two time champion; being sandwiched between Lakers/Celtics battle for supremacy and the Bulls. Most of that is probably due to Bad Boys rep. And looking back at the footage, the Pistons did dole out some pretty hard fouls. Let some team implement the LeBron rules and see if they’re not finishing the game with less than a full roster. But the thing is I remember the game being more physical. So while the Bad Boys were the epitome of the no lay-ups era, I don’t think they were only ones.

A few more takeaways:

Adrian Dantley was pretty bitter but I would have been too. I had always heard Isiah was behind the trade but the doc shed new light.

Isiah was 1 for 2 in the ‘maybe I shouldn’t have said/done that’ dept. Admitted the walk off was a bad idea(Laimbeer’s btw, at least that what he said). Still won’t admit that a Black Larry Bird would have been a marquee star.

Laimbeer is the original honey badger. HDGAF.

All in all, a welcome trip down memory lane. What do you think? Especially wanna hear from Pistons haters.

ETA: It’s on Netflix.
