Did anyone else see Isaiah Thomas on David Letterman last night? I was impressed by his ability to provide thoughtful (and not at all evasive) answers to Dave’s bold and somewhat tactless inquisition. No spin, no awkward silences- Isaiah just handled Dave.
Dave; So, uh, what happened with the Pacers?
Isaiah: I was fired, Dave.
Dave: ha ha ha- so, uh- did Larry Bird fire you?
Isaiah: Yes.
Etc, etc- more drilling about the direction of the Knick’s coaching staff and possible trades-
Isaiah calmly addressed each question without squirming- he is my new NBA hero. (sorry, Ewing- I’ve moved on)
I would wait until he has been there for a year and see if he goes anywhere before saying how great he he is. Maybe he will work out for NY, but he really does not have a great track record. Toronto, the CBA, Pacers…never really did much with any of them. All he seemed to do for three years in Indiana was make excuses for failure. Never advanced past the first round. He is not terribly missed by most fans here.
Never did much with any of them? He took a league that has lasted for decades and run it to the ground in one single year, thats doing a whole lot in my year. I don’t understand how this guy keeps getting jobs in the basketball bussiness, he was a pretty good player and thats where his career should have ended.
