No 30 Rock thread for this week? Shame, shame! I thought it was hilarious.
I’m warming up to Jane Krakowski as Jenna. They really needed a ditzy blonde sexpot for this role, and it just wouldn’t have worked with Rachel Dratch. I like Rachel, but she’s not attractive enough.
The A story about Liz and Jack in the contract fight with Josh…that’s good stuff. That’s the sort of storyline I expected from Studio 60 and didn’t get.
Tracy Morgan has been getting better and better, too. He was brilliant at the golf outing last week, especially his heart-tugging speech about his (non-existent) diabetic child.
Loved Jack’s special negotiating furniture, and his amusement at the awful jargon that Josh’s agent was speaking.
Tracy had a throwaway line that made me laugh about getting a check from the dethroned Nigerian prince he was helping out.
Favorite moment: “Okay, the pinwheels are lit up, but they’re not spinning … and when they aren’t spinning, they look just like… swastikas.”
I could’ve sworn I saw a press release a few days ago saying it had been cancelled, but now I can’t find any mention of it. Either I misremembered or I had a psychic vision of the near future.
Not a perfect show, but it features some sharp writing and surprisingly good comic timing from some of the cast (particularly Fey and Baldwin). It’s a cut above a lot of the crap that keeps getting renewed.
This show is hilarious, and the cast is great from top to bottom (front to back?), but Baldwin is absolutely the best. The “I Will Always Love You” bit at the end? I almost pissed myself. Again when Tracy yells at the television, “Television on! Pornography!” Or whatever he yelled. Dratch is great too. Everybody is. (Did I mention the show is hilarious?)
“Okay, the Crab is now mounting the worm… Get off him! That’s not right!”
The swastikas made me bust out in a big belly laugh. Can’t remember the last time another show did that to me.
It hasn’t been cancelled. It’s going on hiatus for something like six weeks while they try out the new Andy Richter show. But it has a definite return date, which I think is in the third or fourth week in April. I think we get one more episode next week, then it’s off for six weeks or so.
Anyone else notice the protestor with the “Ecclesiates 10:19” sign? I loved that!
Also, I really hope that Obama becomes POTUS (or otherwise canonized as an American institution) someday (it doesn’t have to be the next election)–that would make Jenna’s name confusion even funnier!
