Community and Parks & Rec are my two favorite shows. This is pretty dissapointing.
Just a rumor right now for Parks and Community. 30 Rock is the only one so far confirmed for a shortened (or for any) order.

I’ve never watched any of them, but I had the impression that 30 Rock was very popular.
And it’s funny that Thursday is just about the only night I watch any major network prime time shows. “Person of Interest” for any new episode, “The Mentalist” for a new Red John episode.
What you said, minus the “Person of Interest” thing. I bailed on it after a couple of episodes. Still there for “The Mentalist” though.
NBC has failed to capture my interest for several years now. Same with ABC. CBS still matters, but it’s other networks doing the heavy lifting for me these days.
I have to say, even if it’s just a rumor, I don’t hold out much hope. Community’s fate has been in question pretty much since it started.
I’ll take shortened final seasons over no seasons at all.
Rumour only at this point. Scared the bejesus out of me.

Has there been a management shake-up at NBC? It seems unusual for so many popular shows to be thrown out at the same time. Networks normally prefer to ease in new shows by running them next to established shows. Usually the reason for a clean sweep like this is a new management team that doesn’t want their new shows being compared side-to-side with what the old regime did.
Putting a different spin on the same news. NBC renews ‘Community,’ ‘30 Rock,’ ‘Parenthood’ [UPDATED]
Thirteen episodes. Also not specifically stated to be the last season so renewal is a possibility.
YAY!
Awesome. I can accept a shortened season as long as the writers are aware of how long it will be and can plan accordingly.
Not that I won’t complain bitterly if and when it does end after season 4.
Six (half) seasons and a movie!
What of Chevy Chase? Is his rant about the show (though purportedly from quite some time ago) going to affect his role continuing?
I’d be perfectly fine if the first episode of the season was Pierce having a fatal heart attack at Chang’s funeral. They’re the two weakest links (IMO).
So, it seems there are two choices. Have season four be like the other seasons and have the show end, or have the show change to appeal to more people which will make it less appealing to those of us who like it now.
After today’s episode I can’t see any reason why.
As much as I don’t want it to end, I don’t see any non-contrived way for them to extend it past four seasons/school years. No way does Jeff spend more than four years at Greendale. Or Annie, come to think of it.
Really? I’m not one to defend every episode episode of Community, and this season has been fairly mediocre aside from two superb episodes (Law and Order + the Civil War documentary knockoff), but tonight’s cracked me up.
