First I heard of that. I hated the first two episodes, so I quit watching. If I wanted to check it out and see if I want to watch it, where should I pick it up?
As for Community–I do think the insularity causes problems. I missed the last episode of Season 2, and thus haven’t seen any of Season 3. The only way I could ever get caught up was to pirate, afaik. These are the types of shows that benefit most from having their stuff online, unlike, say, South Park.
If you’re not up for plugging through the early episodes, I’d start w/ the last episode of the very first season. From there on, it greatly improves and the 2nd season is really great, and the 3rd season is easily one of the best seasons of comedy ever produced.
This makes me very happy.
Also, it’s being reported that “Up All Night” has also been renewed. If so, it’s a very good day in the Poehler/Arnett household.
Done. The new title might be melodramatic but I think I have everything right; please let me know if not. The old title was “Say goodbye to Community, 30 Rock and Parks & Rec.”
Pretty good, but Community was actually also renewed for a shortened season. The title makes it appear to be on the bubble still, but it’s definitely coming back for at least a little while.
30 Rock is the only one w/ a definite end in sight.
I don’t know if folks are watching Up All Night, but my wife and I love it. It probaby helps that we have small children and one of us works and one stays at home, so we easily identify with the characters, but Applegate, Arnett and Rudolph are all excellent comedic talents as well. We actually prefer this show to any of the others on Thursday except maybe Parks & Rec.
No love for John Hodgman as the “psychiatrist”? “This is purgatory, and you’re all in hell.” Also the voice they dubbed in for Garrett in the asylum “flashback” was hilarious.
I’m just sorry more people aren’t climbing aboard the Community bandwagon. I’ve been on ever since Modern Warfare (paintball one), and while not every episode has been a classic, I think they’ve all been consistently smart and funny - even better than 30 Rock used to be. I won’t be sad to see 30 Rock end, as I think it’s time, but Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin still created one of my all-time favorite series.
Community is all-time epic. The manufactured flashback/clip shows are a riot. The multiple timelines was a classic. The space simulator, the Ken Burns spoof, the model UN battle (“Crisis alert!”), Law and Order, paintball one … there’s just been so much inspired lunacy there. I hope it can make it at least to syndication.
I find it shallow and pedantic. It insists upon itself.
Just kidding, I’ve never watched it. But it is one of those shows I had planned to eventually start watching because everyone keeps telling me it is smart and funny.
Canceled TV Shows: Networks Clean House greeted me as I logged on a few minutes ago. No surprises for me. I had given up on every one of them weeks or months ago.
There were a few episode comments in this thread (back pre-merge when it was about the community renewable) but it’s really not going in that direction so I created an episode thread for the latest community episode.
So was I at first (in fact, in the first Community thread on this board I think my only comment was something like “They cancelled Earl for THIS?”) but I quickly got over it.
Anyway, it helps that Raising Hope came along. Anyone who liked Earl should check it out.
Still, sucks we’ll never know who Earl Jr’s father is.
The only one of those that I watch is The Finder. But Fox made it clear early on that they were not committed to it, so I wasn’t surprised. They moved it to Friday night and showed the episodes in random order.
