Never been to Detroit but there’s gotta be fun stuff to do there. Bawlmer’s a dump too but there’s tons of great stuff there.
And besides, a free vacation’s a free vacation. I’ll spend WAY more than $300 in an hour if I’m not paying.
Are hookers and blow part of the all inclusive deal?
For the bad one hears about Detroit, the downtown core is rather pleasant. I’d take the week, as long as I also got to pick out which week of the year that we were talking about. I’d also beg for an allowance for a single, short trip to Dearborn just to go to the Henry Ford, but if not, I’d take the trip anyway.
I don’t gamble, but since “entertainment” is paid for, it’d give me a good reason to finally get into the casinos and check them out.
I’d take the week in Detroit. It would not be high on my list of vacation destinations, but hey, it’s free! I can find something to do pretty much anywhere, especially on someone else’s dime…

I know there are areas that I could survive in Detroit for a week given the conditions stipulated. Maybe I’d run around Belle Isle a few times. Still, been there, done that. That $300 not to pack and go almost anywhere is all profit to me. I’m not a traveler. I don’t need maids going through my belongings while I’m out. I’m simply too comfortable where I am. And I can sleep better without the S&W under my pillow.

Dude, I would take a vacation in my current city, which is not at all exciting or worthy of being vacationed in, rather than work for a week. I’d even go to Flint, hell.
I have relatives that I like in Detroit, and many more in other parts of the state.
Of course I’ll take the vacation.
Does it include a chauffeured limo?

Used to live in Detroit metro area and did go into the city on numerous occasions. I miss metro Detroit a lot actually.
I’d be happy to go back. There are definitely legitimately dangerous areas in the city but not all of it is bad. I really enjoyed visiting the DIA (art museum) and the Science Center.

As a few others have said in this topic, I could use the money right here, right now. I’d take the money over a week long stay to many places.
I vacationed in Minot ND for a week and Wa’s able to have a pretty good time - I wold take the vacation for sure! Increase the cash to $5,000 And my answer would change probably but not less than that.
Let’s see - My husband and myself in a posh hotel with unlimited room service, television, internet access, and room darkening curtains. Just the two of us.

I live in the burbs of Detroit. I’ll take the cash. One or two nights down there is plenty to see stuff, but only if I have friends and booze. Exactly in that order.

Yup, precisely. A week without having to worry about work or kids, all expenses paid, do anything we want? Sounds pretty nice. Detroit may get a bad rap, but it can’t be all gunfire and drugs.

I’m there. I figure field level seats behind home for a week alone will be worth it. Unfortunatly the Dodgers are only playing the Tigers in LA the rest of the season. I guess I’ll take something in late September so I can also watch the Lions.
I’m broke and that’s exactly why I’ll take the trip, please. I can’t remember the last time my husband and I had a vacation. All expenses, bars, restaurants and a hotel room? Sounds like heaven. We can have fun anywhere, plus I’d be interested in the urban decay, too.
You’re paying for me to eat well, sleep in a nice hotel and have 50 yard line seats to watch the chicago bears beat down the Lions ? Hell, sign me up right now. Detroit might not be the greatest city on earth, but I don’t believe I’m going to be dragged out of my luxury hotel room and shot on a week long visit either…
I’d love to go see the Indians in another city. I’ve only ever seen them play in Montreal (which was awesome!)
I’ve been to the casinos in Detroit and they were just fine.
I’ve been on “staycation” in downtown Cleveland and spent way over $300 and it was a blast. Hell yeah I’d go to Detroit for free.
I haven’t had a real vacation since 2005. Fly me up to Dee-troit city, please. I’ll find plenty to do.
Hell, I’m a railroad fan, I could spend most of the week photographing trains and be perfectly happy.
