Am I doing something wrong?
I just resubscribed to the dope after a six month hiatus. Now I have to wait 300 seconds between search requests? Thats five minutes!
I thought perhaps after six months, subscription fees, and seemingly more advertising all the time the Dope would see some sort of boost in performance.
By the way I’m typing this rant mostly to kill time between my search requests…

TPTB swear that things will be improving shortly with the installation of a server dedicated to handling searches, and when that happens, the time between searches will be reduced.
And tuppence a week, and jam every other day.

Oh, well, so what.
It annoys me too, a little, but it’s OK if it helps board performance. Not that I’m sure it does, but since they’re going back to free membership, it doesn’t seem right to complain.
Maybe someday they’ll improve the search function so searches are categorized as to difficulty and allow easy searches to be run more often. For instance, a search of just thread titles is presumably less resource intensive than one that searches the thread texts, and a search over the last week is presumably easier than one over all available threads.
