"3rd Rock From The Sun" is the awesome.

Never had time to watch this show when it originally aired.

I have been binging this on Amazon and just love it! (Halfway in to S2)

Sally and Dick are my faves. But really, the whole cast is great.

Anybody else a fan?

Have you ever noticed the episode names all have the word “Dick” in the title?

“I Enjoy Being A Dick”

“Will Work For Dick”

“I Am Dick, Pentameter”

I particularly remember a scene in which Tommy and Harry are babysitting. After the baby spits up the food at them, Harry retaliates in kind. Googling, I find it’s the ninth episode of the second season.

My favorite was when the Big Giant Head (William Shatner) tells Dick (John Lithgow) that while he was flying in from New Jersey, he saw a giant monster on the wing of the airliner. Dick squeals, “THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MEEEEE!”

Lithgow and Shatner both acted in different presentations of the same Twilight Zone story, Shatner on the TV series, and Lithgow in the motion picture.

It’s a brilliant series, and it held its brilliance right thru to the end.

Shodan

PS - “Da, da dat da da da, da, da - SPACESHIP!”

Myself, I prefer The Fusion Chamberlain Show.

This is the scene I’m referring to.

THought it was brilliant until the last season. Then it was just coasting and painful to watch.

It’s one of the best comedies ever made. I rewatch the whole series every few years.

I always liked Tommy (the old man in a young man’s body) and Harry. Harry is so weird and random.

I loved the series - rewatched it recently on Netflix and laughed like crazy!

Classic!

I particularly enjoyed the secretary’s short skirts.

This is one of the first shows I binged when I started Torrenting. It’s a classic! Their slapstick is fantastic.

Heh, the babysitting scene filmed from infant’s POV was awesome. “Dumb, wet baby.”

Helllllooooo Nina!

It takes a deft actor to pull off those scenes with her, without coming across as pervy or rape-y. Lithgow is a friggin’ gem. Nice contrast with Shatner playing the worst dude-bro imaginable.
(Upon seeing a human woman for the 1st time: “I especially like the round part, at the top of the legs!”)

Some of the best scenes were watching them discover human bodily functions and quirks. Remember when Sally sneezed?
“What was THAT?!”
“I dunno. But I want another one!!”

I especially loved the little touches, like the decorative strings of lights on their little rooftop windowledge porch thingy. Whoever did costume and props was fantastic - the getups for Harry were so utterly random and suited him just perfectly.

I still think of them when I’m fumbling with carrying pizza in its box. There’s an instinctive temptation to tuck the box sideways under my arm for easier carrying.
“Awww man. They screwed it up. Again!!”

… ahh hell, i could go on & on. Watched it when it was on TV and own the DVDs now, too.

I remember a scene in which Lithgow was at a burger place and was trying to eat the burgers and the toys that came with them.

This scene in the first episode clinched it for me: Tommy telepathically giving Dick the thoughts going on in his young adolescent brain. Dick is looking down, Tommy is looking up, and they are just staring at each other without saying a word. Finally Dick says “That’s disgusting.”

And the expressions on Mary’s face in the last episode when Dick tells her he is a space alien. Jane Curtin at her best.

My favorite was the first Thanksgiving episode where they don’t know what’s happening but the radio says the airports are jammed with people fleeing town and everyone at the grocery store is buying enough food to survive Armageddon, so Sally buys a “ball of butter” for each of them.

Oh oh, and when Dick complains about Sally’s cooking and parrots a commercial that “everything is better with cheese”, so Sally makes lime jello which she thinks Dick will like because “I put cheese in it”.

How about when he patiently explains to her that they’re discussing prejudice, a subject he’s quite sure she can’t speak knowledgeably about?

Nina: “I’m black.”
Dick: “Oh!” [smacks head] “Right! ‘Nina … Is … Black’.” [/sticks Post-It on Nina]

Was there ever an image of what their actual forms were? I remember from the first episode, when they were examining themselves, one saying “How are we supposed to lick our backs?”

They described their actual forms as gelatinous purple tubes.
