A crackplot?
It’s funny on so many levels. I mean orgonite is funny, and that Mozambique is so backward that it is terrified of orgonite. It reminds me of all the stories of pig slaughter in Muslim countries, or the quarantining of Afghanistan’s only pig in response to the swine flu.
I wouldn’t chalk too much of this up to Mozambique being backwards. If a bunch of foreigners were caught tossing buckets of an unidentified substance into an LA county reservoir, you can bet the FBI would be sweating them for a good long time, regardless of what they claimed they were throwing into the water. Even assuming the best of intentions, anyone dumb enough to a) believe in orgonite in the first place, and b) not see a problem with just dumping it into the water supply without letting any governing bodies know about is also going to be dumb enough to c) mix up their orgonite with strychnine, or radium, or some other horribly poisonous substance.
They weren’t terrorists, just fans of the Third Reich.
Yeah, as Miller stated, that is a little unfair on Mozambique. It doesn’t seem that they are behaving any differently than say the United States would. I’d test the stuff they threw in there too - these people are clearly nuts, but not everyone who is nuts is nuts in a cute, innocent sort of way.
If it is truly harmless, then fine them whatever is normal for dumping stuff in the lake. If it is not, then there ought to be harsher consequences.
All in all, these organite guys clearly have limited sound judgment skills. I can’t blame the government for getting a little nervous about stuff dumped in the drinking water …
