4 Holidays in 7 Days Makes One Weak - A Celebratory MMP

Was planning on the trip to Maine tomorrow, but my dad sent the weather report. Couple of inches of freezing rain/snow. Perhaps put the trip off til Thursday.

I don’t know what’s going on. I took out the contact lens so I could see the test instructions. I did the test (negative), and about an hour later, the vision in that eye suddenly got hazy, like looking through a bowl of fog. Frick, frick, frick. When I’ve had this haze before, it meant I was rejecting the transplant, but I don’t think it’s ever been this sudden. I rinsed the eye thoroughly with saline in case it was something on the corneal surface. No go. Then I used prednisone drops. (I’m already on one drop each day.) I’ll use them once every hour (Standard procedure for rejection.) and see if I can clear up whatever is going on there. If it’s not all better by morning, I’ll have to go in. I also have a bone density scan appointment tomorrow. And I have to do laundry and pack, etc. Oh, and it’s the better of the two eyes.

No time for rejection! (Motto of the Busy Nerds Association.)

I caved and called the doc to say I changed my mind on painkillers. I was in way too much pain when I walked to the pharmacy for the test. Unknown, I wish I’d asked the doc about walking. When my now-ex had a herniated disc, his docs advised walking. I also wish I didn’t live alone: having someone who could drive and run errands would be invaluable. Anyway, the tech said the doc wouldn’t fill the Rx until after 5, and there’s no way I’m walking in the dark with hazy vision, so tomorrow.

VanGo, hope the weather and roads clear.

VanGo, I hope that the roads are clear for your trip. Be careful.

I’m so sorry about the contact nellie.

I have everything packed that can be packed. Up bright and early to hit the road.

Asking if one needs chocoflan is a ridiculous question. It’s like asking if you need to breathe.

Ha ha! You made a funny joke!

I kinda wish we’d moved it right away but no going back now. If all goes well, he’ll get enough info tomorrow to do design work in CAD so when we do bring it home, we can start our projects. And it’ll kill the day. Plus breakfast out.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I’ve never had flan.

{{{{wordy}}}} and family.

{{{{nellie}}}}

I am so sorry, darling. That is indeed, a lot to deal with. Sending {{ huggzz }} from afar.

Oh, you poor sweet dear.
You should remedy this scenario.

I’ve been there too often, wordy. No advice, lots of hugs and sympathy.

nellie that sucks. My eyes are bad but I can still stitch and drive. I don’t know what I’m going to do if I ever lose the ability to stitch.

Wonderful pic FCM!

Our hospitalized friend was supposed to get a probe through his vein to his heart so they could hopefully do some stents today, but it didn’t happen. The poor man was nothing by mouth after midnight until 4 pm when they told him it was cancelled and they would try again tomorrow.

Now for a funny IMHO shipping story. I ordered a calendar from the jungle which was supposed to be delivered yesterday.

The seller shipped it by USPS on time and it arrived at a fairly large hub in Glendale AZ. That hub sent it south to the hub in Litchfield Park. They didn’t want it so they sent it back to Glendale. Somehow it ended up on a truck that unloaded in Blythe CA, then came back to Mayer AZ which is the very small but also very incompetent post office that services our area.

My calendar was handed off to a contract carrier who sent it back to Blythe CA. From Blythe it went to San Bernardino CA. It left San Berdardino at 5 pm with a delivery time of by 9 pm tonight.

I have the feeling that I am doomed to disappointment.

Jets are temporarily chilled. We won’t go to Oxford till Sunday when the weather will be better. I pointed out that he wouldn’t be able to do anything on Thurs, Fri, or Sat anyway, plus I offered to take him to breakfast tomorrow anyway. So I just need to take the ladder out of my car tomorrow.

I know everyone was worried…

nellie - I hope your eye issues resolve. I whine enough about not being able to see clearly as far as I used to, but that’s nothing compared to you. 20/20 vibes coming your way!

Ah, USPS and their package tours… I sent something to my sister in Baltimore. For some reason, it went south to NC first, and it wound up taking a week to arrive. I can drive to Baltimore in 2 hours! Insanity…

Sleepy time…

Oh, I forgot the punchline… I buy Community Coffee 16 (or more) pounds per order.

Still, I don’t like to make more than two pots a day (or less, for that matter); so the pods will come in handy.

Morning, mumpers! It’s an indeterminate temperature outside 'cos the 'pooter won’t tell me. It also says there’s rain, except there isn’t.

{{{{{wordy}}}}} been there too, it’s heartbreaking and I can only hope you find strength and peace, and he has a calm journey.

nellie hope your eye issues get sorted out, it’s horrible when you have that going on.

moooom lovely pic of the grandkids!

Currency is being a trial today. We ordered online to pick up from the branch in our nearest town (only a mile walk from home and conveniently located near our favourite Indian deli place). Got a notification yesterday that the branch was closed so we grumbled a bit about disrupted plans and decided to go today. Yesterday their website said they were closed Monday and Tuesday, and open today. Today the same site says they were open Monday and Tuesday, and closed today. I called the branch to check, no answer. I called the main call centre number and the nice chappie confirmed they’re closed today but should be open tomorrow. No good to me, I’m not taking the chance there…so he called the next nearest branch (half an hour’s drive) and said they had enough currency in stock to cover our order so we are heading there shortly to pick it up. Then going back to the Indian deli for lunch because we deserve it after the trauma!

Last night, FCD got a call from the hospital to pre-register for his surgery. I came in on the tail end of the conversation when he was giving them our credit card info. It didn’t occur to me till I woke this morning, that we shouldn’t have to pay the hospital anything since he’s covered by Medicare A. So he’s gonna be pissed when I tell him he has to call them back and straighten this out.

It’s a wet but not-as-cold morning since it’s 37°. Not great, but not what I was expecting. Still, not a pleasant day - it’s not going to get much warmer but it is going to get windy. And if it’s gonna be cold, at least we should see a little snow - for Roxy’s sake, not mine. I hate that stuff!! :stuck_out_tongue:

When FCD drags his carcass out of bed, we’ll make ourselves presentable then head to CB for breakfast. I think I’ll do some laundry today, and I need to tidy Roxy’s room for her to spend the night tomorrow. I also need to clean the trunk carpet (thankfully it’s a removable mat) so it doesn’t stink up the car. I don’t know what leaked out of the garbage bag, but it couldn’t have been pleasant. Such an exciting day ahead!

Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 61 and N.O.S. The forecast for Christmas day is 77 Amurrkin and N.O.S. Guess we’re havin’ a Spring Christmas. This mornin’ I shall betake myself over to the church house to deal with some church janitor JW duties and deal with gettin’ some stuff set up for all the Christmas Eve doin’s. Two services, four p.m. and ten-thirty p.m. on Firday. I get to be at both. Rah. We shall swipe the General’s sup.

Nellie hope you can get the issue with the contact resolved soonest.

flyboy I knew that about you and Community Coffee. I pay attention. OK, I also like CC, so that would ping my radar.

BooFae Yay for a good customer rep to help you out!

doggio how have you gotten this far in life without havin’ flan? You must remedy this. Now that we all know of its existense you can even remedy it with that most wonderful flan of all, chocoflan!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, woe, and bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. How I do suffer!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I am sorry for your troubles Wordy.

On a positive note: I am having lunch with @BippityBoppityBoo today!

Morning all. Will shortly dress and head out for the St. Louie area to spend Xmas with Brother, SIL, niece, nephews and 6 dogs. Hope to remember camera this time.

boo fae, glad you were able to get cash. Closings around this time of year can be confusing.

FCM, beautiful pic.

{{nellie}}, hope the eye and pain both are alleviated.

OK, onward. If I don’t get back on-line before, A most Merry Christmas to all.

Good morning everyone.

It’s 45 degrees and soggy outside. It took two towels to dry off Polar. The silly dog insists on being outside in crummy weather and is one of the cons to having a dog door.

wordy, I am so sorry about your Dad.

nellie, I hope things will be better with both the contact and back issues today.

FCM, that picture of Roxy and Tobias is totes adorable! I love it!

Today I was shocked to discover it’s already Wednesday. What the heck?! I thought it was only Tuesday, so this means I must get my hiney in gear. I have some unplanned errands which totally messes up my “schedule”, but they must be taken care of and will be added to today’s “to-do” list.

boofae, I’m glad you got your currency issues sorted.

I talked to the garbage company yesterday and it seems my dumb*** neighbors had blocked my bins in and that’s why they weren’t picked up. Guess who gets to pay extra because of her neighbors and because it wasn’t the company’s fault? I don’t have a choice, the garbage and recycling need to be emptied. Damn it.

Safe travels, Metal Mouse!

I need to finish my coffee and hop in the shower. I thought I was all done with errands except for picking up the roast and Christmas Day menu items, dang it. Oh well, at least I don’t have to squeeze these in because I’m working. If I hadn’t wasted part of Monday goofing off, then I wouldn’t be in this boat. It’s all going to be fine and I’m the only one fretting over this stuff; that’s what I have to keep remembering.

And suddenly… it gets cold.

OK, not yet. It’s 46º outside right now. But Saturday’s high is expected to be 31º, and Sunday’s low is expected to be 9º. (No, I didn’t miss a digit.) Snow starting Saturday and continuing through the foreseeable forecast.

I may have to pull the battery out of the MG.

Happy Wednesday!

I’m another one who thought it was Toosday.

It’s up to 39 degrees outside, it was 28 when I picked my son up at 4am.
He let me know that he; has Sunday off (vacation time he had to use or lose), he is now working in a secure area, and his schedule is changing to T-W-T every week. We’ll see how long that lasts, as in the 6 months he has irked there, he has maybe two weeks that he actually irked his schedule.

The dogs are off at daycare. Today is Christmas Party Day, so I paid for them to participate.
All I care is that Echo comes home too tired to move. Little brat has been plucking my nerves. Ripple has been too. I don’t know what is up with him lately. He’s not hyper though, just very clingy.

We have to pick up groceries today. I filled up the tank this morning. I was hoping I could hold out until we got groceries so I’d get the discount, but I was afraid of running out of gas. I’ll need gas soon enough though, since we’ll be going to the armpit on Saturday.
I need to do some laundry, or I won’t have anything to wear after today.
Unless I want to wear shorts.
I think not.

Safe travels MetalMouse

The picture is adorable FCM

Hope your eyes are okay Nellie

Shit ton of stuff to do today. Guess I should get on it.
I’ve been up since 4 though, and I really just want a nap.
