4 Holidays in 7 Days Makes One Weak - A Celebratory MMP

It’s snowing lightly now. The Weather Channel 10-day forecast (linked in a previous post) has snow for the foreseeable future, except partly cloudy on Tuesday.

Wifey, RN doesn’t have any patients today, so I’ve put on some bacon. (On to cook; not on ‘wearing’.)

{{{{{Everybody}}}}}

And an extra one for [[[[[Boo]]]]]

The prednisone worked (mostly) for my hands and wrists, but I ran out Wed and the pain is back, big time. I hope that tells the Doc something, 'cause i really don’t like prednisone and don’t wanna take it.

Wifey gave us an early present. Big ol’ fluffy mitts stuffed with flax seed and some other stuff. You can warm them in the microwave and stuff your hands in them. They feel really good.

We’re on our own for Xmas, but Daughter and SIL are coming over to spend New Years with us., so that’ll be nice.

The snow’s almost gone, but we’ll likely get some more in the next few days. They’re predicting 12f for Moanday morning, for instance.

We forgot to pack the salmon burgers we wanted to have last night, so we ended up improvising a chicken curry over cilantro-lime rice. Twas good.

Sloth ensues.

Afternoon all. In the middle of a Die Hard Marathon (we’re up to Die Hard 3) along with some screaming and yelling (my brother and his children can go from 0-100 in 5 seconds, then back to 0 in 20 seconds more-me, I can go from 1-25 in about a day). Ah the joy of Christmas.

Still, ate a lot of bacon for breakfast and have pictures of the dogs (will post them when I have a chance) so not a bad morning. Hopefully can get gas tonight, some of the stations are complaining about no staff for tomorrow (big surprise).

Oopsie, glad you had a good time with your friends.

{{{BBBoo}}}

Taters, I did the math and :astonished: Don’t know if you should eat it or gold-plate it.

Wood stove insert has been cleaned, ash can has been emptied, wood has been brought in from the dwindling stack, The Missus has started a fire, and pig strips and liquified-and-heat-treated ova have been consumed.

I’ll go to the corner market in a bit to ensure we have enough cream for the creamed spinach with feta tomorrow. I know from experience that no grocery stores will be open tomorrow.

I am so sorry for the life changing accident, Boo. Many folks get depressed this time of year, you have better reason than most.

Hub’s friend learned this morning that he had a electric breaker pop while he was in the hospital. His fridge was on that breaker and now friend doesn’t have any food, or a car to go to the store AND he can’t stand long enough to nuke a frozen dinner so cleaning out the fridge probably won’t happen. He doesn’t let anyone in his home so we can’t help him out with that. No human being should be living like that man, he has slipped so far through the cracks he’s in a sub-basement now.

Hubs is taking an ice chest over and will take his friend to the local market for milk and ice. The poor man hasn’t had the best day, the painter had to come back because he missed a few spots (bad light, similar colored paint). This meant George had to be locked up again. It’s raining sideways and the catio is wet, George wouldn’t mind being out there but we don’t want him to get all wet and track all over the house, so he got locked up in the back room to wail which really distresses hubs and started his day off wrong.

Now he’s dealing with his friend and it is so very frustrating. Mental illness sucks.

Hopefully, he will be able to bottle his beer later today. He enjoys doing that.

{{{BBBoo}}} - bad enough to have such an accident, but on Christmas Eve? Not good. Let your grands make happier memories for this day!

Speaking of whom, Daughter and her spawn will be going to FL with us, since she’d like to see her grandparents again before they die. SIL has work, so he’ll tend to my felines and theirs. My mom is lending us her car, which theoretically seats 6 - the farthest back seat is tight, but it’ll work for Roxy and Higgs. I looked into renting a minivan, but there are none to be had for love nor money, and the one van I did find was over $1k for 5 days. Nope.

Anyway, tomorrow I’ll leave my car with my mom and drive hers back here. That’ll give me Sunday morning to get it ready to go. Yay! And we’ll head out around noon. I just need to book a room for Sunday night, then all that’s left is the packing.

Eggs are boiled and peeled - I’ll devil them in a bit. Now I’m going to make tollhouse bar cookies - it’ll be faster than dropping individual glops of cookie dough. Onward!!

Right?! I was about to ask if I was paying for Waygu beef!

FCD just told his mom our plans - I think he made her day!

It would make anybody’s day to hear the FCFamily was coming for Christmas, complete with grandchildren and great grandchildren! Whee!:smiley::partying_face: Babies to cuddle!

FCD suddenly remembered a gift he got for Roxy that we didn’t see this morning. I checked the bedroom but it wasn’t in there - turns out it got hidden in the shuffle. But she got it and my daughter sent us videos of her playing with it - another success! They’re going to need a bigger house after tomorrow, plus next week at SIL’s family.

We’re booked in Lumberton, NC on Sunday night, and FCD wants us to get there before 8 so he can watch Dallas beat Washington.

I baked a batch of tollhouse as one big mass, then used the pizza cutter to make a bunch of squares. Those will go to FL with us. I also mixed up the 2 deviled egg fillings (Bloody Mary and regular) in zip bags. When I get to bro’s, I’ll snip the corner and squeeze it into the whites. I also put the thrift store gifts and the rules for the goofy swap game in the trunk. I cleared all my crap out of the car so my mom doesn’t have to deal with it, plus I need Roxy’s seat for the trip.

So we’re ready for tomorrow and one our way to ready for Sunday. I think I can chill now.

The Wife’s cousin posted Christmas cocktails, one of which was an eggnog mudslide. We went down to the liquor store for Kahlúa. She made one with her eggnog and her raspberry vodka. She said it was very sweet. I’d picked up a bottle of regular vodka, so I’m having a Black Russian. At 14:30.

Howdy Y’all! One Christmas deheathenization down and one to go! One server did not show up, so I had to scramble for some last minute assistance, but all got done. The first rule of Vergin’ is be prepared for anything. I have read all but retention is nil. I shall attempt to be responsive on the morrow.

Sounds dangerous.

Had lunch at Diamond Knot Brew Pub, including apple cider dough balls. A good start to a weekend full of food.

Dinner will be oyster stew, plus Tillamook cheeses and local-ish pears. Friends of my parents have dropped off ginger cookies, coffee, brownies and rum cake. I think there’s more to come. :astonished:

Got the hose bibs covered and brought in the hose reel so it won’t freeze. Probably have to leave the tap dripping, starting tomorrow evening, to make sure it doesn’t freeze. Between this year’s heat dome, atmospheric river and polar vortex, I would rather have the rain. Can’t believe it’ll be colder here in the greater Seattle area than in central Switzerland.

Speaking of the cold, time to go visit the neighbors.

Happy Christmas eve!

Read all but retained little. We’re fixing to go to dinner shortly.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Many, many hugs to you. I definitely sympathize. Disability sucks.

Oopsie I’m glad recovery is going so well and that your friends made it for a visit.

Isn’t that usually the Thanksgiving matchup?

Today’s excitement: 'Beamette had a scratchy voice this morning and confessed to having a slight sore throat. Please note that she is vaccinated, as is my entire extended family. My sister found out and called my parents. Long story short, my dad is demanding rapid COVID tests for everyone. I see them almost every day, so this feels a bit unnecessary. It would also be nice to have had a little more notice. There aren’t many quick COVID tests to be had right now. My sister found some with a friend in Sacramento and is driving over to get them.

Tomorrow’s plans, assuming no one has come down with COVID, include gingerbread houses, gifts, a prime rib and a turkey, 2 kinds of pies, and assorted mayhem.

I am so cantankerous today. Grrr.

I had a small sip. Entirely too sweet. Might’ve been OK with regular vodka, but with eggnog and Kahlúa it still would have been too sweet.

((((BBB))))

I am currently awaiting the arrival of a pizza from Grimaldis. Christmas in Vegas - it’s rough, but someone has to do it.

A toast to everyone who is celebrating solo. Know that you aren 't alone, only by yourself. To us, I raise a glass in salute.

Just thinking; it’s going to be cold enough Sunday (single digit) I can wear my Irvin jacket. Mrs. L.A. says she can get out her N-2B.

Woke up form naptime, had a Wisconsin Old Fashioned. Dinner was salmon, wild rice blend with mushrooms and shallots, and sauteed asparagus. Now I’m sipping on some Thunderstruck.

I stopped there for gas once. Safe travels!

Cheers! and

Portland is going into full hysteria mode because there might be a few inches of snow. I’m more concerned about a possible power outage, but I can always run an extension cord from the RV generator to a heater in the house if I have to.
