$400 for photo with celebrity

I occasionally daydream about working with a favorite celebrity or, upon seeing them at a restaurant, anonymously picking up their tab.

Yeah. I dream big.

Pete Rose makes his living in this way.

I have a photo with my favorite celebrity (Alan Rickman) already and it was free. I cannot imagine paying anyone else for their photo. I could see paying to do a concert, back stage pass, meet-and-greet with certain bands, as mentioned above.

Why would you do that? They already get paid well and get tons of shit for free. Why throw more money at them for nothing?

She might be a has-been in the USA and the UK, but she is still famous in certain other countries.

She actually had adecent song in her last album. So she still has at least some talent, though no way enough to justify spending a fortune to stand in the same room as her.

I might pay a small fee to stand next to a giant basketball player to help me understand how short people feel.

Because they’re more deserving of money than we are.

But on a serious note, as for Avril Lavigne, she played Bangkok recently, and attendance was reportedly pretty strong. So she has fans worldwide.

Good one! Two thumbs up!

I’d pay $400 to force Jenny McCarthy to watch a child die of post-measles syndrome. A child whose parents took her advice. In fact, I’d pay a lot more than that. I’d also pay $400 to smack her upside the head with a study that proves there is no link between vaccines and autism.

I struggle to think of any star I’d pay even a hundred bucks to take a photo with (maybe Dylan). Much like those VIP packages at festivals and concerts, it screams “I only care about being seen with famous people, not what they actually produce.”

I don’t know Rihanna from a bar of soap, but based on those pictures she looks like both a class act and an absolute scream. Very impressed.

Are we sure that isn’t a cardboard cutout of Avril What’s-'er-name?

I’d save the $400 for something more useful, like a Banana Hammock, chocolate teapot, deluxe paperweight, prosthetic dog balls, or cat wig.

I think Shatner was charging something like £100 for a photo op, also no touching, at the last-but-one Star Trek con in London. Plus you had to pay extra to get the kind of ticket that even allowed you to queue up (for about three hours) to get a picture with His Shatness. A friend of mine went for it but it was much too much for me.

I said no but, after seeing the Rihanna photos, I’ve changed my mind. If I had quite a lot of money I’d spring for one with her - they’re great fun photos.

I wonder how much Shatner would charge to let you cup his boobs.

I’m probably not the first to notice the celebs that just interact with fans on their own seem more likely the type to be really great to interact with in person. It’s like there’s a correlation to how much they charge and how aloof they act around fans.

After seeing Pen and Teller’s show, I was very surprised to see them with audience members after the show. I got my picture taken with Teller (he TALKED! TO MEEEE! ) and found them to be very approachable.

Bruce Campbell has the type of fascination with his fans that a 3rd grader would have if the teacher brought a bunch of lemurs to class. :stuck_out_tongue:

Urgh! It’s been decades since he’s acted in something good, and yet people queue up to hours to spend 16 hours of minimum wage for a photo.

His voice is actually really easy on the ears, I think they’ll be interesting people to meet.

Exactly (and I like Natalie too).

The only reason to pay would be for the actual experience, since it would be easy to create a photo with Photoshop, and I’d have as much copyright control over that image as I would the image I supposedly “bought.”

So, no, I wouldn’t pay that much, and I wouldn’t pay anything for the types of photos in the OP.

A Comic-Con was in town last week and I was checking out some of the celebrity photo-op pricing online. $35-$80 a pop for odd ones like Ian Zeiring, Lou Ferigno, Gilbert Godfried, William Shatner?
Makes me feel like I got a good deal back in a 95’ meet & greet with Peter Mahew, Anthony Daniels, David Prowse, Kenny Baker, Jeremy Bulloch for $5-$10 each that included an autographed photo.

I wonder how much my selfie laying beside Kurt Cobain’s body is worth?
