The pictures say it all.
Hillary and McCain both have to be somewhat awed when they see a turnout like that.

Man, I’m glad we didn’t go–that would have been crazy crowded! They simulcast the entire speech on local TV, though, so we got to hear it while still enjoying the air conditioning.
It was pretty incredible. The line stretched way into downtown. We were in line for 16 blocks, and the line still extended behind us. Totally worth the heat.
The morning news led with this story - it was kind of funny. Robin Roberts interviewed the Obama’s and it was a fun candid interview. Not one mention of tomorrows primaries…interesting huh?
My wife and I were going to go… but opted out at the last minute because we thought our toddler would probably not enjoy the heat that much.
Knowing how immense the crowd was, we obviously made the correct decision (it would have been miserable with a toddler in that crowd). But I kind of feel sorry now to have missed it.
There are 75,000 people in Oregon?
Well, 1,000 people showed up for Bill Clinton in Salem, so there!
Then he managed to get 3200 people to show up in Pendleton, of all places–3200 is about 20% of the total population of the town and it’s Redneck Central.
Oregon represent!
Perhaps they had never seen a black man before? Just asking.
Nah, Pendleton is close enough to the Tri-Cities that they’ve seen black people before. Now if you were talking Union or Joseph or even Imbler you might be onto something.
The Tri-Cities being the thriving urban metropolis that we are.
The first photo in the link is great - I like the juxtaposition of the intimate family embrace with the almost abstract background of tens of thousands of people in the background.
75,000 people - Wow, indeed!
Well in comparison to what you can find about an hour south of you, yes, you’re positively Gotham.
No, only 15,000 people - the other 60,000 were sturgeon.
The most impressive part was feeding them all with a basket of loaves and fish.
You know, I had this very thought as well after reading that sturgeon article. I wonder if giant fish will get their own cutesy demographic tag like “Soccer mom” or NASCAR Dad"
