I have long contended that every thread on the Dope can have either a Simpsons’ reference or a Futurama reference in it.
So far, so good! I’ve liked the Errol Morris film, the Pilobolus bits, and the Foley sound choir. And even the Will Ferrell/Jack Black bit (where was Ben Stiller?) had a good point about comedies (and comedians) getting the shaft.
At least they’re not using actors or groups of dancers to do interpretations of the best original songs. (Have they done that since the legendary fiasco with Rob Lowe many years ago?)
A question for overseas Dopers watching this in the middle of the night (or later in your morning): are you planning on taking Monday off as a personal day, or is there a bank holiday or something similar conveniently scheduled for tomorrow, or what? Is Oscar-related absenteeism a big phenomenon where you live?
The official Oscar poster for this year features various quotations from famous films. If you’re looking, you can see some in the borders of the footage- I’ve noticed “Life is like a box of chocolates…” and “say hello to my little friend,” among others.
How exactly does one go about making the Oscars green? I can only imagine some sort of list:

Thank you. It seems odd to me since the mixing portion is analogous to film editing while sound editing is more like cinematography, but that breakdown makes sense.
