Writers montage: proof positive that everything can be improved by adding Leroy Anderson. (Carnick: The Typewriter, written by the aforementioned.)
I enjoyed it, but Cars was the better movie. (That’s all the animated movies I saw in 2006. For a guy who loves animation, I sure don’t see many movies.)
Heh, nice touch of showing Martin Landeu when the music for the screenplay clips turned to “Mission Impossible”
You’ve mercifully forgotten the interpretive dance of a traffic accident, behind a performance of the nominated song “In the Deep,” when Crash was nominated last year.
I work for myself now, but when salaried I’ve taken the day after the Oscars off a couple of times. The last company I worked for gave seven weeks holiday, so booking a day off in advance was no big deal. Oscar-related absenteeism is not a problem I’d have thought. World Cups held in far away time-zones are another matter.
BOHR-at, Helen Mirren, BOHR-at! Not buh-RAT.
Helen Mirren and Tom Hanks for Adapted Screenplay.
Winner: The Departed!!
Helen saying the entire name of Borat ("…make benefit of glorious…") was priceless!
Liked the bit where they played excerpts from the adapted screenplays.
Aargh, I hate it when they cut people off in the middle of speeches!! It’s the Oscars. It’s supposed to run long.
“You bet Chris! More fun!!”
I booked a holiday day off. I get a good few(4 weeks+) so I always take a day off so I can watch the OSCARS.
What is up with Ann Hathaway’s dress?? Eww!!
I laughed out loud when I heard Tom Hanks there.
Meryl Streep’s death stare was funny.
We need to save that time for more interpretive dance! God forbid an unsung hero like writer or sound mixer get their full two most meaningful minutes in their little existence.
Oops, sorry.
Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt (was robbed for Supporting nom!) for Costume
Winner:MARIE ANTOINETTE!!!
Holy crap, Edna Mode won for best costume design.
I’m not drinking but can I still play along?
Well, I guess I tuned in a bit late - hope I didn’t miss the “BestGaffer” award.
Geez - Tom Cruise - let’s see how nutty he is tonight !!!
Tom Cruise giving Hersholt Award to Sherry Lansing
I loved the writing montage… there’s almost no limit to the scenes that could’ve been referenced in that one. (Best Friends had a cute, husband & wife take on the screenwriter’s life, but they didn’t include that film.)
Tom Cruise, don’t wig out. On second thought, please do… 'cause we just haven’t had enough celebrity (and NASA) meltdowns recently.
