Girl child with a parasitic conjoined twin to undergo surgery to remove extra set of arms and legs
While that’s interesting, what prompted me to post was a quote from mom at the end of the article
I can’t describe why that pleases me, but it does.

When I opened the link, I sincerely believed that the thread title was “8 limbed child porn.”
And yet, I still chose to open the link. I don’t know what that says about me.
ETA: Oh, and I think I won’t send that picture to my pregnant, very nervous friend. Which I was really about to go do for a second. Not a great night for my brain.
move over spiderpig!
Is this some sort of record?
I wonder if they would let you keep your spare arms and legs once they removed them.
If that was me i would so save them, maybe freeze them. Then if I’m in an accident and lost my hand or whatever i wont need to wait for a donor I have some spares.
Sadly, they can’t preserve limbs or body parts in general in an attachable condition for any length of time.
Because although she has her beliefs, she’s a rational human being and didn’t decide to go with, “well god made her this way, and she should stay this way”, like a certain JW mother and a blood transfusion in another thread. The latter had her belief and stupidly stuck with it. It’s pleasing to see some common sense in the news outlets concerning relgion. I wish the little girl all the success in her surgery, that’s got to be tough.
She looks a bit like Magie from the Halloween special when it turned out she was the daughter of Kronos (or Kang).
I wonder if it is helpful or hurtful to her chances of full recovery that they waited until this age. No doubt her body is stronger than when she was first born.
I hope they are successful in their attempts.

Not to mention you may be 20 or 30 by the time you lose a hang/limb. Then the best you’d have is a toddler’s undergrown hand/limb.
I’m surprised they called her Lakshmi not Durga…
Sorry.
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
YYYAGGGGHHHHHHH!! Yeah, I’m gonna have nightmares tonight for sure!
That baby girl is freaking adorable. I’m glad the parents fought to find someone to operate on her, and I hope she comes through it all right. So nice to read about parents who are doing their best for their kid, instead of the nightmare fodder we usually get in the news.
Aw, come on. It’s a pretty little girl with a couple spares.
Wow. I’m a little surprised that they included photos of her. She’s a lovely little girl and I hope her recovery is swift and complete.
Agreed. She looks absolutely charming and huggable in both photos.
Why is it that she’d be unlikely to survive with the extra body? Is it because it is a huge body burden to nourish and carry around all the useless and uncooperative tissue? Not that I’d wish it on anyone – she wouldn’t be able to walk or move easily with that second body attached. But it’s not obviously life-threatening to a non-medical type like me.
It’s too bad the extra arms aren’t functional. I would love to have a couple of extra arms, if they worked.
Though it might be difficult to get around the extra limbs if you did want to hug her.
Probably not- they throw them out as biohazardous waste. They wouldn’t even let me keep my wisdom teeth when I had those out…
Too bad there’s no way to make all the limbs functional.
That kid looks like the final badguy from Stephen King’s The Dark Tower.
Remove them, or she may become a menace to society.
