I have never posted one of these threads and I’m happy to say I finally have a reason to do so. As of yesterday, 3:11 PM, my SO is an uncle! The whole family’s been waiting for this baby. It’s the first grandchild and everyone’s excited.
She sure put us through some worry, though. First she threatened to come three weeks early, putting us all in a tizzy and causing her mother to have to go to the hospital and then sit at home for three weeks. Then she decides to come three days late, after what I hear was over 12 hours of labor.
I lied about the 8 pounds, she’s actually only 7 lbs 15 oz but I didn’t lie about the squalling part! There’s other pics and the last two pics are the only ones she’s not actively squalling in.
Congrats! Very cute, I love the little footprints.
(I, too, thought this was another cat thread. Then I though, Anaamika doesn’t even like cats, what the hell?)
Heh, you cat people made me laugh out loud. Let me make this clear, though - I am as much of a sucker for kittens as anyone else. That thread recently with the kitties? It was so cute it hurt!
But I think this baby is cuter, though I am equally glad she’s not mine!
Yep. As another non-married-but-still-an-aunt, little kids just don’t care if your married or not. Spoil them, tickle them, wind them up on sugar, and at the end, send them home. (I love my niece and nephews, and would do anything for them.)
Ohh, and don’t forget the loud presents. That’s what aunts and uncles are for, after all.
Nice! Congrats to the proud parents, grandparents, and of course the proud Auntie. (Confession, I also thought it would be a cat or pretty puppy thread).
Very good, but clearly a child with a strange sense of punctuality: she will have trouble in later life being on time for a bus or train or aeroplane, methinks. Not to worry, perhaps that will be Auntie Anaamika’s job.
Oh, and it is dead right about the loud presents - you can give the tiny personages loud and musical (?) presents, and know that you are not the one who has to tolerate said things. Oho, the fun and joy.
All happiness to the new parents and the new inhabitant of Earth.
All I can add to this is me too. Oh and don’t forget to be the good Aunt with the great presents. As the good uncle (now great uncle) with the great presents, I gotta tell ya, it’s a good role!
I just knew if I said ‘aunt’, people would say Well you’re not married.
Thank you all, and let me make a correction. It was nineteen hours of labor - which my SO says is not that bad for a first child. It may not be comparatively, but I bet it is for the mother! I told him to go pass a gallstone.
Auntamika! I love it! And I am looking forward to spoiling her rotten because I know her parents will be great parents so i needn’t worry.
Oh, and I like cats, kitties, dogs, and even babies, provided they go to someone else’s house at the end of the day. What lives in my house are lizards, turtles, fish, and one messy SO.
