Soon. Soon! SOON! I WILL BE AN UNCLE!

My sister, Heather, got told that the baby has dropped into position for birth.

We are all excited.
The child, a girl, will come within two weeks!

This will be the first child among my brothers & sister, my parents’ first grandchild.

Her name is to be Margaret, & the ultrasound indicates all is well.

I’m so excited!

I’ve already bought her her first teddy bear!

A proper uncle starts spoiling his favorite niece before she is born!

Congratulations. Isn’t it amazing how you can love someone who hasn’t even been born yet?

Congrats! I’m about to become an uncle too. My sis is due mid-October, but will probably have the child a little sooner than that.

I can’t wait to go into full “cool uncle who spoils the child” mode.

Don’t wait! Start now, like I did!

Ha! Beatcha, Bosda. Kid arrived July 9. Damn lil bastard’s big now, almost 15 pounds.

Yeah, don’t wait until the nieces and nephews are almost into their teenage years like I seem to be on track to do to spoil them. I sure had plans to be the cool aunt, but instead ended up forgetting their birthdays! Argh!

Congrats, all you new uncles & aunts!

Congrats to all you new Aunt’s and Uncle’s… I will soon be an older cousin… well again but soon I will have two more cousins to look after, and watch grow up. One is due in October the other in November. I can’t wait.

I will be an auntie in December.

Crap, stupid me. I should add - congrats, Bosda!

Bosda congrats on unclehood. Good job getting started with the spoiling. All you other to be aunts and uncles get started now. It’s tough competition to be the cool aunt/uncle with the great presents! That’s my title among my nieces and nephew, and now I’m working on it for the great nieces and nephews. Hell, even with three grown nieces and a grown nephew, I still got the title. I have bought refrigerators, microwaves, living room furniture, bedroom furniture, baby cribs, you name it I bought it! Spoiling the sibs kids…the gift that keeps on giving! Spoiling the sibs kids kids…now that’s just plain fun!

No news to add, yet…

 :smack:  :smack:

What, are you practicing how to teach the kid “patty-cake?”

My sister Heather just came back from the doc’s. Ultrasound confirms normal condition in all ways.

Pins & needles.

Stupid family argument–my parents were e-mailed an image of the child from the ultrasound.

They now quarrel over which side of the family it resembles. :smack:

My brother Andy is unbelieveably indifferent.

Tommy wants to save up to buy the child a motorcycle.

Am I the only sane one left?

Gonna be an uncle? Ahh, you get used to it.

Not really.

Congratulations!

You are naming your niece after the very best person I ever knew, my mother. Margaret. I expect her to look after her namesake from her perch in heaven…the very best place to do these things.

And as for being a cool uncle…just be yourself, okay? Gifts are nice, but I am not wealthy enough to do much in a financial way…and I overheard one of my nieces a few months ago talking to a friend on the phone when I came in. She told her friend “Oh, I have to go, my aunt just got here. What? Oh, no, not THAT aunt, I mean the COOL one!”

(I’m STILL smiling!)

Nah, she’s named after that Judy Blume book: “Are you there, God? It’s me, Margaret.”

My niece was named after my late Grandmother, who helped raise my siblings & myself.

Well then see, she has TWO great Margarets to look after her from heaven! She will most certainly have a WONDERFUL life!

(And my prayers go with her that this be so.)

Heather’s exam today. Slight dilation.

The baby will come late this week/early next!!!

Otherwise, all’s well.
