80's Makeout Music

It just makes the cut at 1989. Most of the stuff on the Disintegration album – (The Cure). At least if you like the make-out mood to be mellow, relaxed…

I’m partial to “Same Deep Water As You”, from that album.
And don’t tell me I’m going to be the first to mention…
In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel

Oh my God, yes.

Sorry for the second post. I just got carried away by Roxy Music. Ahhhhhh memories.

A boyfriend and I enjoyed Enya with low lights and candles.

Allow me to speak from 80s bandstand experience.

When you’re 17 and singing in a cover band (provided it’s the mid-80s)…

  1. Spot a likely girl in the audience with no readily apparent date.
  2. Tell the band to start up ‘Open Arms’. Watch the roll their eyes.
  3. Sing it STRAIGHT at her.
  4. Segue into ‘Straight from the Heart’ by Bryan Adams.
  5. Lock eyes with her.
  6. Wait.

Ah…good times. Good times.

Well, you remembered two lines, and Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad! :stuck_out_tongue:

Why Don’t We Get Drunk and Screw - Mr. Jimmy Buffett

Oh lordy. I’ll fifth or whatever Avalon and Roxy Music. And Wicked Game is certainly up there too. Nice memories. sigh

Back on the pop/R&B front, there’s also Don’t Disturb This Groove by The System (couldn’t be more blatant), Crazy for You by Madonna, Sign Your Name by Terence Trent D’Arby, and any number of songs by Sade.

And this just reminds me of the perfect anti-makeout song by the Dead Kennedys.

D’oh! How could I forget - Slave to Love by Bryan Ferry (actually, anything he did after going solo), and You’re The Best Thing by Style Council.
