80's music is the worst music ever and Led zeppelin is the best band ever.

I would just like to say that 80’s music blows, you simply cant argue with that, period. It blew primarily because the “musicians” didnt have any talent, and most of it was just really loud, untastefull wailing that damaged instruments! and dont get me started on the cloths they whore…

Led zeppelin, along with the Who are the most talented of all bands, ever. There music was good and kick ass.

Isn’t this Cafe Society fodder? Or IMHO? Certainly not GD…

Though while I’m here…

You’re insane. 80’s music is wonderful! Don’t be dissin’ the sound of my youth, homeslice.

What instruments? Cite?

Oh, and I suppose that the Who took good care of their instruments…

Boy, just look at the spiffy duds on Led Zep…

The problem with 80s music was they tried to do modern electronic music without the benefit of modern technology.

Wow, with a solid argument like that… let me guess – you’re on the high school debate team, right?

  • wondering which 80s pimp band was whoring out cloth… *

Flemland?

He’s Flemish? I–I dunno…

Thanks … we’ll be sending the next LOTR thread over to you. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously … I know I should close this, but I just don’t have the heart right now. sexual chcolate , do you have any other discussion to add to this or are we to be just overwhelmed by your seemingly indisputable taste in music?

I like to point out that 80’s hair bands like Def Leppard, Van Halen, Warrant, etc. put out some of the catchiest, most fun music ever created. It’s not deep, but they knew how to play their instruments, write riffs and create catchy hooks…more than most bands since Nirvana ushered in an era of musically underwhelming grunge music can say.

Just a good time party music.

Oh, please, every old-timer knows that today’s music is the worst music ever.

This is true whenever today is.

Hey! Turn that *&%( down!

Well, shit. Now you tell me.

(Throws out all his 80s CDs, buys some Led Zeppelin.)

I’m not clear on how the OP specifically defines “80s music.” If we’re talking about the pop music of the era (Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Thompson Twins, Duran Duran, etc.) then yes, I agree, it seriously sucked ass. As for the hair band movement of the 80s, this is what I grew up on and still enjoy listening to (though some bands I have to wonder why I once liked them). There was plenty of good general rock music in the 80s, too, but its presence was diluted by the glut of techno-electronic crap that dominated the airwaves.

I also agree that Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and while I’m not really into The Who, I do have plenty of respect for their contributions to rock music.

You know, I agree with you and for that reason wish you’d put a little more of a compelling argument into the OP. As it stands, it somewhat resembles a two-legged chair.

The sophistication displayed in the OP suggests that the author is a professional music critic of the highest order.

80s music sucks, huh?

So that means that Elvis Costello, the Smiths, Sonic Youth, Camper van Beethoven, Black Flag, the Pixies, Bad Religion, Flipper, and Lauries Anderson, just to name a few acts from my youth, all suck? Thanks for the keen critical insight, there, Sport.

Damn gobear. You beat me to it.

Let me add:

The Jam, XTC, the Soft Boys, REM, Big Black, Wire, Husker Du, Joy Division, the Cure, Dead Kennedys, Mission of Burma, X, The Clash, The Undertones, Prince, The Beastie Boys, De La Soul, Ministry, Metallica, Television, Gang of Four, Siouxie and the Banshees, Redd Kross, and so on and so forth…
