Great choice! And for those who haven’t seen it, the little girl is a genuine future star.

I’m so happy for Curfew! I agree, that little girl, Fatima Ptacek. will be a name someday.

Live-action short :(.

At least I guessed the doc short correctly. Which is weird, since I haven’t seen those, and I’ve been wrong for most of the other categories, which I have seen. Moral of the story: stop watching the nominees, and my Oscar pool will improve drastically.

Interesting that Neeson is talking about Lincoln. I wonder if he is disappointed that he didn’t take the role.

It’s hilarious to hear Liam Neeson introduce Lincoln, since he was attached to the project for so long.

ETA: Ninja’d!

How ironic that Liam Neeson is announcing Lincoln as a Best Picture nominee…when for all the years that movie was in Development Hell, he was attached to the project for the lead role!

(Although, as much as I love Liam, I’m not all that sure he’d have been convincing as Lincoln. Too burly, not lanky enough. Daniel Day-Lewis couldn’t have been more perfect.)

ETA: D’oh.

I wanna see this movie where Lincoln gets the hostages out of Iran and then offs bin Laden. Looks really good! Oh, that wasn’t a trailer?

You know, it’s ironic that Neeson was talking about Lincoln…ah nevermind.

Yeah, I don’t really get why they’re doing it that way. What was wrong with having each movie introduced separately?

May have been a better movie, but as far as VFX go, the more impressive work is usually the stuff you’re not supposed to notice as a visual effect, and if the artists did their job, you don’t (and because so, unfortunately it’s the more unsung VFX work).

Although Pi is pretty stylized as it is, when you see the tiger you aren’t always thinking ‘that’s CG’, however, you see a troll, you know it’s CG, even if done as superbly as Weta Digital. But Rhythm & Hues deserved this Oscar, and justly won, IMHO (though, bittersweet in having to file Chapter 11 this year).

Yeah, Sugarman!!

All right! I’m sure all the rest are worthy, but this will get more people to see this wonderful film.

SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN!!! Ok, I can die happy. I don’t care what else wins for the rest of the night.

Okay, the guy on stage literally tugging the coats of the winners to try to get them to stop talking? Super tacky.

McFarlane presents well visually, but then he opens his mouth and all those lame jokes spill out. Sorry, not trying to crap on those who like him, the material just comes off as mean-spirited, for the most part.

The director I loathe more than any alive wins. Bleagh.

Sucking like usual in the Oscar Pool…

Who didn’t have Amour in their pool for foreign language film? Anybody? Bueller?

Ausgezeichnet!

So happy ‘Amour’ won, what an incredible film.
