87th Academy Awards viewing thread

Nothing will top the opening quip: “Tonight, we celebrate the best and the whitest.”

You know, the only things I’ve EVER seen NPH in are the Harold and Kumar movies, and Gone Girl. That’s it. But I know he’s hosted other big awards shows and I caught a general air that he was great. What’s up?

Cool commercial, Photoshop.

Chitewel Edjifor (sp?) and Nicole Kidman presents Foreign Language film to Ida. (sigh, I was pulling for Leviathan).

I didn’t understand the joke about Nicole Kidman, but I was looking away from the screen. What did I miss?

FUCK playing these people off!

I guess that answers the question as to what happens if you ignore the “play you off” music and just keep talking. You get to keep talking! No Teamsters come and force you off the stage or anything.

NPH said they would be playing each other.

I hate that the movies aren’t getting their own sunshine. Don’t group them! These assholes.

Boyhood’s gonna win.

He’s not Oskar Schindler. He’s Peyton Westlake, pretending to be Oskar Schindler.

Michael Keaton chewing gum while Shirley McLaine introduces Birdman. Anybody else jazzed that Billy Blazejowski is nominated for a freakin’ Oscar! “Pimps? No, not pimps … love brokers!!!”

Seeing LEGOs is making me rage at the movie’s snub.

Tegan & Sara performing “Everything is Awesome” from the non-nominated (ARGH!) The Lego Movie.

Seat fillers get respect!

I’ve followed T&S since they first started. It’s surreal to see this success!

Yeah, I loved that. The first funny scene I’ve seen is NPH treating Steve Carrell like he was a seat filler too.

I want a Lego Oscar!

Well, that number was out there. Lotsa fun! Probably the only time Andy Samberg will get to appear on the Academy Awards …

(I probably thought the same thing when Steve Carrell presented with Will Ferrell a couple of years ago, and look at Steve Carrell now! Once again, don’t count on my predictions with any of your own money …)

I’ve heard of this commercial of the blind girl and how she interprets the characters in The Wizard of Oz. That was pretty cool.

How long has Clint Eastwood been dating Tara Reid?

That’s a pretty set. Kerry Washington and Jason Bateman (he was a child star?) presenting Live Action Short.

Pulling for Boogoloo, Phone Call will win.

I was right! It was very good too.
