9/11: How many people died and from what countries?

Curious to know what the final tally was, may they rest in peace.

This page says 2,792 as at Aug 15 this year. That figure is just for the WTC attacks, I believe.

One thing I have often wondered - do the official death tolls include the terrorists themselves, or are they excluded?

Good question…I think the same question came up for the Columbine tragedy, with some of the parents getting upset that the shooters were included.

2,792 from the WTCs…and DC and Pennsylvania were???

Thanks-

This memorial is a database of all the September 11 victims.

The 2,792 number for the World Trade Center does include the hijackers.

The nationalities of the dead at all three sites (not including the hijackers):
Australia, Bermuda, Canada, China, El Salvador, Germany, Grenada, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, Unknown.

The death toll at the Pentagon was 189, including the 64 people who died on American Airline Flight 77. The total number dead on the flight that crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, was 45 (38 passengers, 7 crew).

The city of NY does a mortality report every year. This is the one covering the WTC deaths.

Another facet to this question:
Initially it was announced that September 11 was the most deadly terrorist attack in British history, with around 100 Britons killed.

Now that the overall death toll has dropped by more than half, is this still the case?

Well, an earlier muslim terrorist attack, the plane that crashed on Lockerbie, Scotland would probably be in the running. I believe a number of people on the ground were killed in that incident.
