While I disagree with your ridiculous ‘sentencing’, that story makes me really sick. I just don’t understand humanity sometimes.
Damn. That’s so sad. There are so few left, it’s a shame.
I just got a letter from some tiger rescue place asking me for money. They went on and on about how they had reached their limit of tigers, but more kept becoming available and they just couldn’t bear to turn them down. The letter went on to tell that because of a donation of contaminated chicken, a lot of the tigers became ill. They barely had enough food for the tigers so they had to take what they could get. After reading the letter, I didn’t want to send them money as much as I wanted to call some sort of service to go see if they were taking proper care of those animals. I wonder if this is the same place I got the letter from. It’s a pity such majestic animals are being left in the hands of such morons.
Which one, the bat or prison? I think both are preferable to:
Rape is neither funny nor something that should be wished upon someone as “punishment,” no matter how heinous the crime. To honestly say to someone, I hope you get raped in prison, is to admit that one has as little humanity as the individual who is supposedly deserving of the sentence.
That being said, this is about the worst thing I’ve heard this week. I love tigers. My local zoo is currently blessed with a pair of Sumatran tiger cubs. They’re adorable.
The guy responsible for this needs to be punished to the full extent of the law, and then some, but prison rape? That’s just ill.
Anyone else think this was about the Detroit Tigers?
You know, it would explain a lot about their performance.
Yeah, I was also thinking about the twenty-five or so dead Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Anyway, back to the actual topic at hand…truly a sad story. Some people are just not fit to care for children or animals, and should not be allowed to. Of course, keeping large, wild animals like tigers is not generally advisable anyway.
I love cats, including big cats.
Rape the mofo.
Very well, in my heart of hearts, I truly don’t wish that on anybody.
However, I’m sure that the punishment for what he did will not fit the crime.
Nah. Sentence him to 24 hours in the cage with the surviving tigers, once they get their strength back.
I have family in the business of importing and breeding big cats for zoos and private owners. Please remember that the majority of people who own tigers and other big cats do so safely and legally. A hellhole like the place in this story is the exception, not the rule.
How can someone let those animals die like that? There’s no time in a tiger’s life when it’s not beautiful and amazing; I can’t imagine that someone could neglect such beauty.
How the hell do you even get your hands on ninety tigers? Is there a website, or an 800 number or something? www.wellmailyouatwothousandpoundflesheatinganimal.com?
I’m wondering about the “piles of big cat pelts stacked in a storage barn” part. Was this guy making money selling off parts of the cats he was supposed to be taking care of?
Well, duh. Petsovernight.com!
Reinstate some good, old-fashioned, Roman-arena-style punishment for these fucks.
Tie them to stakes and let the hungry tigers loose one 'em.
That is just sick, reprehensible, and as mentioned above, I doubt the punishment will fit the crime.
Miller even in a depressing thread like this one, you never fail to crack me up.
I absolutely love tigers, they are truly magnificent animals. I don’t remember ever being this upset over a story in a long long time. 90 tigers is roughly 1.2 to 1.8 percent of the entire population. If you think about it, that’s like finding 72 to 108 million humans dead in someone’s house.
I don’t know enough about their business to know exactly what could have gone wrong, but at the very least they couldn’t have been equipt to handle what they were trying to do. To me, that seems like opening a hospital in the basement of your house. Because you have nowhere near enough staff, equiptment, or money to treat the patients you lose patient after patient after patient, but you still accept all of the patients you can find even though there are plenty of other hospitals could have easily treated them. I can’t believe these people.
Bruce_Daddy, take 10 minutes, and here, use this cement filled aluminum bat, assholes like these don’t deserve half measures.
What they did is totally vile, and I hope the judge tweaks the sentencing so that these wastes of skin spend a good long time in jail.
A freezer full of frozen cubs would be handy if you were, say, planning to start a Giant Scary Snake Farm.
90 tigers! Are these ex-circus tigers or something? Or do people actually get tigers as pets, and then decide they’re not so cute anymore when they knock over the 40" TV, and eat the kids?
What a depressing story. Knowing that many species of tigers are on the brink of extinction, and then reading some asshat decided to let 90 of them die… unbelievable.
And since he was already going to be on trial for improper care of tigers in a month time, why wasn’t he taken away from those tigers until at least a verdict had taken place? Sometimes, innocent until proven guilty doesn’t wash. If someone’s accused of molesting their kids, the kids are taken into custody until the accused is aquited. Why not with tigers?
