When people think of hot musicians in alt rock bands of the 90s what comes to mind? For me Shirley Mansonfrom Garbage and D’arcy Wretzkyfrom the smashing pumpkins. I never really cared for Gwen Stefani but could see why others would rate her.
The answer to this question begins and ends with Liz Phair.
Fiona Apple wasn’t too shabby.
Your musical tastes are too narrow. If you had broadened them to include jazz, you would have noticedDiana Krall.
I don’t think Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) wore a shirt until 2001.
The late Kristen Pfaff was hot.
Depending upon your definitions, every member of the Bangles was attractive +. While the band ended up pretty mainstream pop, the first 2 albums probably qualify as ‘alt rock’.
The chick from Whale says you’re all crazy.
But not really 90s.
Conventionally hot? I don’t know. I was always attracted to the punkier women. In the late 90s, I was probably “in love” with all the Sleater-Kinney women at one time or another, and Kim Deal from the Pixies/Breeders. But they probably wouldn’t qualify as typical “sex pots.” Bjork was hot in that crazy pixie sort of way; Tori Amos was quite the looker, too. Melissa Auf Der Maure. If you allow alt-country, Neko Case, of course, who started getting popular in the late 90s.
I always found Skinfrom Skunk Anansie sexy, albeit in a somewhat terrifying sort of way.
You got 2 of my top choices, Kim Deal and Melissa Auf der Maur. Don’t forget Kim’s twin sister, Kelly. Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses/Breeders/Belly).
Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star always did it for me.
This.
Also, Miki and Emma from Lush
I’m not Googling for images of 90s foxy ladies from work. But off the top of my head:
Louise Wener from Sleeper.
Sonya Madan from Echobelly.
Tanya Donelly from Belly.
Beat me to it. Assuming you’re into waifish girls with big eyes and full lips, Hope was crazy hot.
Melora Creager from Rasputina. She replaced the GTOs at the top of my lust/list.
Chrissy Amphlett of Divinyls their big hit was in 1990.
Well…their biggest hit, (I Touch Myself) but “Boys in Town” was pure 80’s.
