It was definitely The 7th Guest. I bought the original CDs on eBay and I’ve been able to run them using DOSBox.

It’s also worth mentioning the follow-up The 11th Hour, as well as Trilobyte (the original company) releasing The 7th Guest for iOS not long ago. (Maybe for Android too, I don’t know.)
