A Beary Special MMP

We got rain!! My garden and yard are very happy.

Went to the Catfish (minor league) baseball game last night. We got rained on, but not badly and the home team won. All I can say is…it ain’t hockey. The scheduled pool party got thunder and lightning’d out, darnit.

Wish I could come home to a new kitchen. I am not looking forward to stripping and repainting the cabinets, which is a project to be tackled in the near future. New countertops and flooring would be an improvement, also.

OOOOhhhh. I wish I could. Alas, I have no motorized four-wheeled transport. Bummer.

What, your CD tray is broken so now people have to actually drive to pick up their food? Shocking!

But I’m glad you had a fun birthday!

Please send some rain my way, SCL. We need it!

My dream was nowhere near as colorful as rosie’s, but it was, I am ashamed to say, about these here boards. Having read on one of the offshoot boards (or maybe in the LJ community) that it looked like the members had been turned into guests, I dreamt somehow that the boards were floating in front of me and the threads all had guests in them. Not people, but the word “guest” floating around among the threads. Surreal. Apparently, I had a major need to communicate (even though I didn’t really have much to say). Also…I was obsessing about what would happen if the boards didn’t come up again…how would we find each other again… (OK, so maybe obsessing is a bit strong, but the possibility was alarming.)

Yay, rigs! Sounds like boot camp confirmed that liberry school is a good place for you. We had a kind of boot camp before I started grad school at OSU. All the grad students who were going to teach foreign languages spent three weeks together learning how to teach (or polishing skills if they’d taught before). Some of my closest grad school friends are people I met there.

And to come home to a complete kitchen on top of that…cool!!!

Went to see Wordplay with a friend this afternoon. Really fun movie. Lots of attention to detail with both music and puzzles segue-ing into and out of real life. Really interesting combination of special appearances from famous people who do puzzles.

It was neat to see pieces of a Sunday puzzle broadcast. I’ve heard bazillions of them (I’ve been listening to Weekend Edition Sunday since it started; I might not hear all of it every week, but I usually catch the puzzle). Seeing one live was really cool. And getting an idea of what Will Shortz is like beyond the couple minutes on the radio a week was neat too.

But the best part was that the winner was a student from RPI. I almost turned to my friend and said “My friends Spats and taxi went there.” But it was pretty well into the movie and I could just picture the “Your friends ‘who’ and ‘who’?” and then more explanation and it just seemed disruptive.

Anyway, it seemed like a documentary about a very organized and focused Dopefest, really…

So…I’ve failed to mow yet again…way too hot and muggy and, what’s worse, I think the ragweed’s out because I started coughing yesterday. So, I’ve resumed the industrial-strength antihistamines and will hopefully have the allergies a bit more under control by tomorrow and…then I’ll mow. Really. (There’s a reason why I’m trying to minimize the amount of lawn in my garden!)

It feels like I’ve had a workday where I didn’t talk to anyone all day and I’ve come home and I’m all chatty (I used to feel sorry for my roommates). So I’ll shut up now.

Did I mention I was glad the boards were up again?

I forgot to wish swampikins a HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Bad rosie. No biscuit.

I’ve been working on the VunderLair all weekend. Yesterday started with a trip to town yesterday to run errands. Mowed the yard, until the tire went flat while I was mowing the roadside ditch. I figured out that I pushed it off the rim, so I got it reseated and inflated, but I had to wait until today to finish.

The big project, however, was cleaning out the slaughterhouse. Took me 3 hours; my only consolation is that I got to play with pressure washer again. I think it’s finally ready for VWife’s sewing stuff.

That washer is another [del]toy[del] tool that is more fun to use than it ought to be. I also washed the backside of the house, the car, my mower, and a couple pieces of lawn furniture besides, just because they were laying around and dirty.

I only unpacked 3 boxes today, so the house still looks like a wreck. :frowning:

Yeah! It’s back!! : puts away noose and pills :

Just another day at work today. I’m home and the dog is walked. I am about to fix dinner, beer brats, garden salad tater salad(N.O.T). It’s hotter than heck outside.

SCL, I hear you. September 22 is a long way away.

rosie, I used to have dreams like that, till I cut out the bedtime martini.

rigs, Congrats on the kitchen and boot camp. Will you organize your cookbooks by the Dewey Decimal System?

Bobbio, have you considered a road trip with the power washer?

Oh…and no one answered swampy’s question about tomorrow’s MMP. As I recall, Sean volunteered…

GT

No one will see this probably, since it’s 10:00 pm Pacific time. I’m sure the rest of you are probably all snug in your beds by now.

I do seem to remember Sean volunteering. Hopefully, I won’t get yelled at for having a good memory.

I really didn’t get much done. My mother showed up just after five and didn’t leave until about 15 minutes ago. I helped her with her paperwork, and went through some of her ungodly medical bills from her surgical procedures in and the stuff leading up to it. Good lord, they were frightening to look at. At any rate, there seem to be a couple of dubious things on there, so I told her to double check that stuff and find out what’s going on.

I’m glad you enjoyed your birthday Swampy. Some chocolate cake and ice cream would be good about now. Unfortunately, all my ice cream is gone. The kids ate it all…again. I’ve bought three tubs of this Chocolate Truffle ice cream and have yet to taste it. I’m hiding the next one.
