A Canadian flames the whole Canadian Olympic Mess!

A CTV reporter (Michael Something) is still complaining about Biden’s security detail. I don’t know if you saw the exchange last week, where he and Biden were trash-talking each other about the Canadian and U.S. hockey teams, but after the ‘interview’ Michael Whozits complained that an agent kept slapping his hands down. He said, ‘I’m Jewish! I talk with my hands!’ A few minutes ago he was all like ‘If I were to interview Biden again, I’d have to do it like this.’ (He holds his hands low in front of him as if cuffed.)

They can bite my ass (sorry, is that un-Canadian, too?)

Gah, I think I’m turning into Valteron too. I couldn’t believe none of the Hamelin brothers could get at least third in the 1000m short track men’s finals.

That’s a Summer Olympics sport, not a Winter Olympics one, although it might switch to winter if Bettman has his way and hockey is moved to the summer.

We’re catching up now, but rest assured, we’ll still complain unless we top the medals table.

And Valteron: I haven’t laughed so hard in ages, you’re hilarious. I would dearly love to think you look like this. Or this.

toodlepip: Your username reminds me of this video.

Cheerio!

Well, now we have something to complain about after today. An absolutely disgraceful performance by the men’s hockey team.

Don’t blame the athletes. Blame the bureaucrats in charge of sports, blame their media flacks and their stupid “own the podium” campaign (like we have the only world class athlete and everybody else will lie down and lose for us). So far, the only athlete that they “pimped” that kinda delivered is Jennifer Heil. Every other medals came from athletes that weren’t in the primary spotlight, didn’t have to do countless interviews instead of getting ready for the games, didn’t have that extra pressure to perform.

I spent the last whatever years down on Canada hosting the Olympics because of all the corruption in the higher-ups, and now I find that I’m just enjoying the ride with whatever goes on in Vancouver.

Heh, Canadians are nationalistic, they just don’t like to admit it.

I’m looking forward to seeing if the placing distribution shifts. What I mean to say is that if the majority of Canadians place better than before (more 4th, 7th and 10th finishes compared to 10th, 13th and 20th) then it is working. Real lasting results would require that we continue this program for at least another 3 Olympics. That way we get an entire cycling of athletes within a winning culture.

And if anyone knows where I could actually find that kinds of data I’d appreciate it.

No no, not Grumpy Canadian enough. Not derogatory enough to “their own.” I like to think he looks like this.

Yeah, you might get labelled a redneck.

Oh, absolutely! I think the title of this thread should be changed to, “A Canadian flames the whole Canadian Olympic Jackasses!”

We paid for it with good Canadian dollars and it does indeed belong to Canada. Of course, we have to let the the four countries that have bested Canada in medal standings (as of February 24) use it as well to collect their 79 medals. But there is room up there for us to collect our 11. As the athletes from the US, Germany, Norway and the Russian Federation walk away triumphantly with their medals and flowers, they are perfectly willing to admit that we own that ol’ podium. “Thanks for letting us use it, ya hosers!”

Do you understand numbers at all Valteron? Do you get why it is totally stupid to add up medals from three countries and compare that to a single country?

And… do you know what year it is?

(btw - yay for Canada’s 6th gold medal yesterday!)

There seems to be quite a lot of speculation as to what I look like. This is understandable, since we all know that the validity of a viewpoint depends largely on the physical appearance of the person expressing it.

In fact, I do not look like any of the pictures that have been put forward. I look more like a cross between this and this

Well, you should know, I guess.

(How about this? No?..)

Hey, Valteron - I’m a little surprised by your restraint. I came back to this thread expecting to read a incendiary rant about the Canadian hockey team losing to the Americans. This rant I would have thought reasonable - we should never have beaten you guys. 'Course, y’all beat us in baseball a little while ago, so turn about is fair play, I guess.
