A Canadian flames the whole Canadian Olympic Mess!

4 more medals for Canada yesterday - Gold, 2 Silver and an unexpected Bronze for Clara Hughes (our flag bearer) in her last race of her career. Clara is the only Olympian to get multiple medals in BOTH the Summer (cycling) and Winter (skating) games.

Thanks for starting this thread Valteron, so we can celebrate Canada’s success!

P.S. Women’s hockey gold medal game tonight - Go Canada!
P.P.S. Also watch for Joannie Rochette tonight in figure skating - currently in 3rd and competing despite her mother dying of a heart attack days ago. Talk about heart! She’s skating for her mom.

Actually, I’ll admit- I’m secretly rooting for the Canadian’s Women’s Curling team to take the Gold medal tomorrow…

message screwed up

All right, I admit it, they’re doing better than I thought they would. Ya happy now?

As penance, you must now run around your block waving a Canadian flag, yelling GO CANADA GO!

P.S. Ladies curling - Bernard’s rink just won the semi’s and got into the final Gold Medal match. So there’s another medal for sure.

Cheryl Bernard is hot

I’m a little tired, actually - I’m thinking of a nap.

You’re the one who was unhappy. I take it that you are still unhappy. Sucks to be you.

Ya, pretty much. I was happy before. Still happy. Looking forward to watching some more Olympics tonight!

I won’t be able to watch the Olympics tonight, but despite this, I’ll still be happy (I have a GS race tonight, which is a very happy thing).

Women’s hockey gold, baby!

Okay, Wayne Gretzky is sitting beside Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Freakshow.

Canada’s tied for the most gold medals with the U.S. and Germany at eight. There is still hockey and curling on the table.

What public and humiliating penance are you willing to do, Valteron, if Canada wins the gold medal count?

(Not that I think they will; after hockey and curling, I don’t know if they have any more strong events.)

He should play a sport.

Not to get too ahead of ourselves, but …

Women’s curling
Men’s 500m short track
Women’s 1000m short track
Men’s 5000m relay short track
Women’s pursuit (long track)
Men’s pursuit (long track)
Men’s Curling
Men’s Hockey
Are all events Canada could, reasonably, win medals, and therefore Gold in.

Sadly, curmudgeony isn’t a recognized Olympic sport. I was thinking more along the lines of an “Own the Podium” tattoo or at least some sort of Olympic rings dyed or cut into his hair.

Well, curling and hockey are pretty much a lock but they’ll need a lot of Koreans to fall down to get those short tracks.

That’s not too much to ask.

Anyway, yes, it’s proper to count only golds, since, after all, second place is first loser. Canada is therefore in the lead as of this morning.

I think getting the Olympic rings dyed into his hair (or if he has no hair, getting them inked on his bicep) would be appropriate. I do mean inked - I’m not a tattoo fan.

This is as happy as I get. I admitted that they did better than I thought they would. If you don’t like that, take a hockey stick and use it to do some high-sticking in your end zone.

So, is getting the Olympic rings dyed in your hair on or off?
