Total medals: 21, placing them in 3rd position. Not that long ago, the country leading in gold medals was thought to have led at the Olympics.

Curse you, Canadians! Inviting everyone else to your olympics, then taking most of the gold medals yourselves! That’s just poor etiquette, and very un-Canadian. What happened to Canadian politeness, “have a nice day” and “would you like a muffin with that?”

And a bronze for the 4 man bobsleigh. Pipped for the Silver by 1/100th of a second by the 4 time gold medal winner.
So… let’s see… More Gold than any other country. More Gold than any host country in the history of the winter Olympics. More medals for Canada than at any other Olympics.

Actually, checking the event schedule, Canada is officially guaranteed to win the gold medal count. There are only four more gold medals yet to be awarded, and three of those are gold medal games, i.e. only two countries are still in the running. Canada cannot be caught by Germany or the U.S.
So, Valteron, what’s it going to be? How about a MSPIMS post entitled “Canadians Own the Podium”?
Not to mention, if the hockey team wins tomorrow, it’ll be more gold than ANY other country at ANY Winter Olympics.

There was a spontaneous singing of “O Canada” a few rocks before Martin and co. won the gold - it was pretty spine-shivery, too.
They did that in one of the early curling rounds too. You could hear the players talking, and one said to Kevin Martin, “Have you ever seen anything like this?” Martin just stared at the crowd and shook his head.
