A Canadian Rock Trio that kicks butt! And it isn't Rush, even!

WOW.

I went to see Queensryche tonight. Good show, great live band, could do with a DECENT album again right about now, but still, a lot of “Mindcrime” stuff and some enthusiastic playing.

HOWEVER.

They were NOTHING compared to the opening act. A great, enthusiastic, experimental and SKILLED band. FANTASTIC songs. Relatively new to me.

Ladies and Gents, I give you:

THE TEA PARTY

Any other fans? More info? Recommendable albums? They were REALLY cool and have gained a fan tonight!

They’ll have to do something about that name. It needs to slightly more gross or decadent.

I like the Tea Party. My GF turned me onto them. The only time I can listen to them is on my computer. I use my RealPlayer to listen to Edge 102 out of Toronto…

Yup…I’m proud of them. Straight from the streets of Windsor they are.

Anyway, they’re incredible. If you’re just getting into them, may I recommend their older material. TripTYCH is most certainly a kick arse album, but it’s nothing like their old stuff, which features a kind of middle eastern flavour, believe it or not. Recommended songs include Fire in the Head, and The Bazaar.

You won’t regret checking it out people.

When I grow up, I want to be the Minister of Silly Walks.

Fuck. I saw the thread title and I thought it was about Triumph!

The Tea Party… Well, they’re okay if you’re into Zep clones, I guess. At least, their first album was like that.

I think you can file them under The Tragically Hip - Huge in Canada, but outside of the border cities like Detroit and Buffalo, nothing huge stateside.

Yer pal,
Satan

Yep, gotta love the Canadian Content law, or no one would ever hear any of these bands…they would be awash in Britney and the Backstreeters faster than you can say Jack Robinson.

Two out of three ain’t bad.

Coldfire, Saw Queenscryche (SP?) some years ago during their “Operation Mindcrime” tour. I wasn’t really a huge fan but I got free tickets and was big into heavy rock. It was great. After the concert we all go to go backstage and meet them, very nice group of guys.

I hear the Tea Party on one of the local rock stations at least a couple times per day.

They’re actually pretty good for “requisite Canadian content” in my books. “The Messenger” (from the album Triptych) is the latest single on the radio. Mildly annoying if the radio station plays it too often, but then that’s always the case with any song out there.

Just to let you know I went to see the Tea Party for the second time in one week tonight!!

This time, a smaller club hosted the show. There were maybe some 700 people present, but the place was packed and had a great atmosphere.

Finishing off the evening by downloading some more Tea Party MP3’s… and then it’s off to bed.

Anyways, just wanted to say the Tea Party ROCKS!!

Does this mean you’ll be changing your handle, Colfire? And could I use it now?

I’m not a fallen angel, I’m a risen demon.

All right, I’m there!!
Oh, wait: “and it ISN’T Rush, even” … eh

That’s quite a “Resistor”, there …

I’m a loner, Dottie … a rebel.

Yea, I’ve been listening to the Tea Party ever since their first album came out about oooooooooh, I think it was 8 years ago now… I started getting sick of them though cause for 3 albums they couldn’t stop using harmonic minor scales… but their last album finally fixed that and they sound much more mature.

I highly recommend the first and second album though “Summer Solstice” and… oh poop, I forgot the second one… something to do with Winter. =)

I met Tea Party about 2 years ago at McMaster University, their pr guy is the brother of one of my former drama teachers in high school, got us in for free and VIP passes.

LOVE THE TEA PARTY! You have to listen to all of the albums to get a feel for them.
Nothing better than Psychopomp when ur in a bad mood or Taking Me Away, or Release, or Army Ants(in a pissy mood)

They kick ass, now if I could only listen to them again(bad break up with a bf who also loved them “Heaven Coming Down” was our song)
Listening to it is hard

I thought it was gonna be about NoMeansNo. They’re not very new though. I think they’ve been around for 15 years or maybe 12.

Anyway, The Tea Party sounds pretty good. I hope I don’t get them mixed up with The Birthday Party or that KISS song “I wanna rock and roll all night and party evuhree day”.
