I went to bed at 10. I’ve been trying to get back to sleep since 1. It is now 4:30 and I have given up. My alarm will go off at 5:45.
Time to limit my caffiene intake after A Certain Hour and muzzle some roommates. (Official and Unofficial–I never see Invisible Roommate even though we share a bathroom. Ships passing in the night, we are.)
(((((Vorlon family))))), sorry to hear about your troubles, I hope things work out ok for you.
I have spent my morning on another point-and-click course, luckily this is the last one until the new bit of the system gets released in January and they write a course for that one!
Last night was fun too, I had to take Ophelia to the vet for her booster shots. She doesn’t like travelling in her pet carrier so I had to chase her round the house to get her into it, then she grumbled at me all the way to the vet’s and all the time we sat in the waiting room. Naturally she was as nice as you like when she actually saw the vet, then she let me have the full force of her misery and woe all the way home. These are the times I’m glad it’s only a five-minute drive from home to the vet.
Afterwards she ran off to sulk for a while and then came back to me later when she decided I ought to be making it up to her with treats and fuss. Shadow just looked at her as if he couldn’t work out what all the gribbling was about.
“Be sure to change the batteries in your smoke and CO detectors, so a dozen grumpy fahrmen don’t track mud through your house at 3:30 AM.”
Went to a car wreck after work yesterday. Lady went into a ditch, hit and demolished a concrete culvert, and put her car on its side. She was bumped and bruised, and otherwise OK. I, however, in the heat of battle pulled back a fingernail on my left hand. Yee-frakkin’-ouch…
I’ll be in Cubeville today. There’s nothing dangerous about software development.
Yay on paper nearly being done, Nava! Most worthy of celebratory funkiness.
BooFae, I hear ya on pets that hate carriers. We have to wrap Morgan in a towel and funnel her into her carrier, and then she howls and cries all the way to the vet. The taxi drivers usually glare at me, since they assume I must be a terrible cat-mom based on her pathetic pleas for assistance. OTOH, Ariel is much more stoic about the whole experience… she just waits until we’re back home to exact her revenge by peeing on something.
Vundy, you can say what you will about Cubeville, but I’ve seen people get some pretty nasty papercuts while reviewing 1000-pg stacks of business requirements.
Sorry to hear about the transfer falling through, mmmmmmmmmmm. I’m sure you and hubby will find a way to make it all work… being together and somewhat broke is probably better than gainfully employed and several time zones apart, right?
That’s a pretty angry-looking Ophelia in that picture, BooFae!
I have to take Lily to the vet on Saturday so I, too, will have the pleasure of putting the cat in the carrier and having to listen to her yowl all the way to the vet. She gets really quiet when we’re there though! And doesn’t want to come out of the carrier at all. Poor kitty. I wish we could explain better to our cats that the vet and the shots are keeping them healthy.
So what’d you make for dinner last night, Muppet?
I just bought a neti pot and used it for the first time this morning. Using it isn’t bad at all, and if it keeps me from getting a sinus infection this year, it’ll totally be worth it!
I have a one o’clock appointment for my colposcopy today. I am thinking I should leave soonish because traffic is going to be all kinds of jacked up due to the huge memorial and procession for the four police officers who were shot by that scumbag.
I am not begrudging the procession and memorial for these officers. They are expecting more than 20,000 people at this memorial, plus the procession route is already line up with thousands of people showing their support for these officers and their families. The people attending the memorial are other law enforcement officers and firefighters.
Is it Official MMP Take Your Cat to the Vet Week? Anyone else want to join BooFae, Rosie and me in this always exciting task?
It’s snowing here, and the roads are quickly starting to get yucky. I was out at lunch, and the side roads are a bit slippery. I’m so glad I live 5 minutes from work!
taxi, just after I posted about doing the tarragon-polenta pot pies, The Boy called to let me know he’d be coming home too late to do dinner, so I just ended up having leftovers rather than making something just for me. I’ll probably do the pies tomorrow… tonight is wings and beer with Miami Friend (who I suppose ought to get a new monicker given that he’s not in Miami anymore).
I am not bring either cat to the vet this week if I can help it. They’ll probably need to go in February to get their teeth cleaned, though… I plan on waiting until then because the vet always does a 20% off special on dental and bloodwork in Feb.
BTW, I am officially listening to the most confusing conference call ever. One group is sitting too far from the phone to be audible, another group keeps talking over each other, and another group keeps having loud side conversations in their room… and if that wasn’t bad enough, there’s a heavy breather listening in, which means I can barely hear anyone else as it is. Aaargh.
BBBobbio of course! I changed into a muumuu and mules to go to work today.
Taters hope all goes well.
I don’t have a cat so I can’t take one to the vet this week.
I learned today I have Christmas Day off. Mind you gotta work Christmas Eve and the day after. It’ll be tiresome but I’ll go up to mom’s after work Christmas Eve and come back Christmas Day late afternoon, fall into bed and be at work the next day. Le Sigh.
Meatloaf, green beans, baked sweet N.O.T. and rolls for dindin. Should be good!
