A chilling new type of Denialist

That’s terrific, thanks.

Do you have any evidence that such a videotape exists?

How about you start your own goddamned thread regarding your particular flavor of conspiracy bullshit, and not hijack a thread about the death of 26 people and the losers who deny that those deaths ever happened, you cheese-brained nincompoop? Christ on a fucking rubber pogo stick, things don’t always have to be about you and your psychotic delusions, in spite of what the voices in your head tell you.

If you want to check out some discussion of this kind of thing, go to cluesforum.info/ These people basically believe that everything you see on the news, etc. isn’t real. Everything is a hoax, “psyop”, false flag, etc. All the the witnesses, authorities, etc. that you see on the news are actually actors playing a role to perpetuate the hoax and control the public through fear…or something.
Here’s a thread where they claim that the three women in Ohio who were kidnapped and held captive for 10 years was a hoax.

I actually wonder if some of the people posting there are trolling just to see how much insane, crazy bullshit they can get other people to buy.

Or we get some actual black helicopters to visit them.

Made my day. And I second the notion - koufax, go be stupid somewhere else.

Hey, look at the top of the page: how can we fight without being presented with opposition?

That’s not the problem. The problem is that koufax’s argument is a thread hijack. This is about those who deny that the Newtown child massacre occurred. Koufax is not discussing that.

But you probably won’t find any aimed up. Those cameras are there to watch pedestrians, not the sky. (Or, so it would have been in 2001; maybe they’ve added some sky-watchers since them.)

No, but he is providing us with a live comparable example of the workings of that kind of mind, if that is not too strong a word.

Why, yes, mind is too strong a word for whatever passes for gray matter in the skull of those WONJCTs.

Our local Morning DJ’s, not the brightest people, covered this theft this morning on their weird news bit. They had no kind words for the thief/taunter.

One of them even said it straight up: “They think they know more than the rest of us, so they can justify acting like this.”

What I read was that the Pentagon was pretty pissed off at the people that refused to remind before returning the tapes, so they said no more.

We gotta get this thief’s name and torment the hell out of him. Honestly, have him confronted by all the surviving families and see if he still sticks with this nonsense. Has anyone arrested this person yet for at least theft? Harassment?

I have this fantasy where it turns out that everyone putting forth these theories are actually sane people trying to troll conspiracy theorists who will believe anything, while the people saying they buy it are actually sane people trying to troll the conspiracy theorists who put out the theories. One day someone comes clean with a “gotcha ya” which is followed by “gotcha yas” on the “gotcha yas” and so on and so forth until it turns out there was just one credulous person in New Jersey who started the whole thing and everyone else was yanking each others’ chains.

One can dream.

I wonder how many of them are Russian and Chinese agents attempting to sow sedition and dissent among the population.

FWIW,

They caught the guy who did this.

This one is a real prize package:

I expected one of the SDMB’s resident conservatives to address this generalization, but I guess they were both busy.

Conspiracy theorists are not exclusively conservative, of course. Demonizing the right is your thing, I know, just like Der Trihs has his rants in his pants about anybody who admits to a worldview that isn’t an exact match with his. I commend your commitment to fighting for liberty by linking articles that may have something to do with the conversation.

You’d be excused if you thought conspiracy theorists are primarily conservative, though. IMO, the reason why it looks that way is because the US is currently and has been under an administration that is on the left. What passes for the left in the US, anyway. Americans, being numerous and loud, tend to set the trend, especially when it comes to whackjobbery.

Of course, back when the right was in charge, there were plenty of liberals just asking questions. Or just making nonsensical claims, like how the Gulf War was about oil, that Bush stole the election, or that 9-11 was an inside job. It wasn’t Rush Limbaugh spreading that last one, it was people like Rosie O’Donnell, Ed Asner, and Howard Zinn. Bloody liberals got the whole ball of idiocy rolling with the granddad of modern American conspiracy theories, “Who killed JFK?”

The killer virgin out in California has, of fucking course, spawned CTs. And, as you’d expect, if you actually paid attention to how this horseshit works, which I don’t think you do, the theorists are not strictly conservatives. I mean, unless you think Exene Cervenka is a Republican. I don’t think she is. She doesn’t fit the profile. I have a theory about this, though.

I read that Exene Cervenka spent a few years living in Idaho: from what I have observed, that is not at all healthy for one’s mental stability. Some people recover, some do not.

No, they’re not; but, I have studied the history of CTs in America in great depth, and the theorists are mostly conservative.
