A couple of short videos of models I built

My wife showed me how to make short videos of photos. So I did these two of models I built: The first is my scratchbuilt “Legion of super-Heroes Clubhouse”.

The second is a Fantastic Plastic resin kit of the Soviet LK Lunar Lander.

I’ll let the videos speak for themselves, but will answer any questions.

Boooo! I was expecting stop-motion animation!

And speak loudly they do. Excellent work on the models and great sound selection - added a real sense of compelling urgency in both cases.

Very nice! You and Rocketeer blow me away with your Mad Skilz! Thanks!

Hey, where is Rocketeer???

“Stiffened with future”?

Future brand floor wax. A staple among modelers — in the U.S., anyway.

First of all, Rocketeer is much better at this than me. As for the music, I got lucky. They give you some choices, but I haven’t figured out how to hear them in advance of picking them. Both were selected based solely on their names. “Rescue Team” for the Legion piece, and “Russian Dance” for the lander.

I didn’t realize they still made that.

I do like the model. I just wish I had that sort of creativity.

Late to the thread but I just wanted to say good job! Especially the modifications on the super heroes. Until you try it, you really don’t know how hard that is using smaller scales. While I do 28mm non-human gaming pieces occasionally, I usually stick with 1/35 when doing people. Anything smaller and I feel I just can’t get the details right.

While it is a “Russian dance”, and so the label is accurate, isn’t that second one from The Nutcracker?

“Russian Dance” was how it was labeled, but you have ID’d the piece. And some of the detail on the figures was accomplished by painting blank decal paper and cutting out appropriately sized pieces, a technique that I call “paintcals”.

I’ve read about that but never tried it. Are you talking waterslide decals? Do you apply and shape them wet and they keep the shape when they dry?

Yeah, but within limits. They’ll conform a bit but not too much. And to forestall another likely question, I save pretty much everything left over from any decal sheet,so that’s where some things came from. The leftover copyright info from a Star Trek kit gave me the “P” for “Phantom Girl” (taken from Paramount) and the three black lines on Ultra Boy’s belt were obtained from cutting the vertical line off of an “E” for Enterprise and went on as one decal.
