A D Day MMP

So it was a bit busy, and Captain Queeg was back, but she didn’t harsh my mellow too much. The neighbor’s pittie puppy slipped out when I was walking Gordie after work, and of course he mouthed off at him. Which means in the last 48 hours he has

  • gone off on a much larger unleashed dog
  • Went off on the maintenance guys during the yearly checkup(roommate said he was asleep till they were halfway out the door )
  • ate Fred
This is why the lawn guys refer to him as El Perro Diablo

Considering he grazes the litter box, Fred might not like the menu.

Also, I forgot I was out of poke loin, so I had to run to Aldi to grab one. THEYHADDARKCHOCOLATECOVEREDESSPRESSOBEANSANDIBOUGHT3TUBSAND… < vibrates into another plane of existence >

Come down from your sugar and caffeine high doggio. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you get down to metal mouse’s to see the Trash Pandas wheelie, swing an hour and change north and I’ll take you to a Sounds game.

They are basically stage 6:

I remember those days…have you ever tried caffeine soap? Supposedly the caffeine is absorbed by your skin as you take your morning shower.

I’ve pretty much got my habit under control unless I happen upon some dark covered espresso beans. I have no control where they are concerned!

The Missus saw a bald eagle dive into the bay. I missed it, but I did see it take off. It flew up the shore (toward us) and alit in a tree to (I assume) eat its fish (guessing a sole).

I looked for Dungeness crabs on the return trip, but didn’t see any. Not enough sea grass, I suspect.

Two parks I’ve yet to get to!
Been to the old Joe W. Davis Stadium over in Huntsville a couple times, as well as Greer Stadium, former home of the Sounds (and Xpress). Good memories in both places.

One of these years I’ll be back around!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and partly N.O.S. with a chance of rain. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization (I have Chalice duty) followed by some kinda McN,O.L. Then we shall return to da cave for sloth and leisure.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Have you seen the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs ? That’s my home team - they’re currently waaaaay in first place in their division. We haven’t been to see them yet this year, but we will, eventually.

Woke to rain, as expected. I further expect we’ll return to the boat because we think we figured out 8 more circuits as we drove home. I also have to clean the critter fountain and load the dishwasher before we go, because I was a slug last night.

I have to hang around the house tomorrow to sign for a UPS delivery. What’s so important it needs my signature, you ask? It’s a filter insert for our fresh water strainer. It costs a whopping $8!! Yeah, I don’t get it either, but I missed the delivery yesterday, dammit.

Daughter starts her new job this week. As I understand it, she or SIL will bring Tobias over in the morning, then I’ll pick up Roxy at 3 and bring her here, and make sure she has supper before her mama picks her up around 5:30. That’s my T-W-T schedule unless SIL gets a M-F job. For now, M and F are his days off. I need to double check whether this starts on Tues or Weds this week - she was giving me conflicting last time we texted.

And that’s pretty much it, as caffeination continues. Happy Sunday!

Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to get sheveled. Heathenization today, but the rest is open.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I note that I have been editing Wikipedia for nineteen years as of yesterday. Can anyone beat that?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I am currently listening tp both critters noisily slurping their undercarriages.

I tend to suck down the whole bag when I buy one. And the rich people Aldi has several cases.
< vibrates in anticipation >

Is it “Congrats on a long term dedication to Fighting Ignorance(it’s taking longer than we thought)” or “Perhaps I should get a social life”? Impressive either way!

Ever done the Durham Bulls?

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 18c/64f outside today, mostly cloudy which looks pretty much right from where I’m sitting. Weather app says “Could be colder, could be warmer, whatever. I don’t fucking care at this point.” I don’t have any plans to do anything outside today, apart from empty the upstairs bins which means a quick walk from the front door to the outside bin.

Yesterday was a pleasant day, we avoided football and musical activities in town by staying in a pub instead. Much entertainment was had, we taxi’d home, and had pizza for dinner. 'im indoors had got something out of the freezer for dinner but we will have that tonight instead. I also got mince out to make chilli so I’ll make that this afternoon and put enough in the fridge for tomorrow, the rest will go in the freezer for another day.

Sunny unfortunately we can’t change our airline for the Dublin fight, it’s got to stay as a BA flight for the sake of tier points and stuff. Apparently once we’ve managed to take this flight, I will have qualified for a gold card so it’s got some value attached to it.

Fuel prices are still going up, I did hope it would reduce the number of journeys people are making by car but I am not seeing much sign of it so far. I don’t drive much at all, this week I’ll be taking the car to the supermarket and the gym, and on Saturday night we’ve got a gig that’s in a place almost impossible to get home from by public transport so that will be a drive too. I go to work by public transport, which is probably cheaper than driving, as well as less stressful.

[Young Frankenstein]Could be worse, could be raining.[/Young Frankenstein]

I have not! I didn’t realize you were so close to D.C. We saw the Nats in ‘09. I think we may have considered the Crabs on that trip, but the schedule didn’t coincide, or something.

Next year, I plan to be caught up (again) with all the MLB parks; planning to visit the new home of the Texas Rangers.
But the Minors and independent leagues are vast and ever-changing. I’m sure I will never complete that quest!

Yes, both the old DAP (as seen in the film) and the new(-ish) DBAP. The jump from A-ball to AAA was huge for them, and I do like their current home quite a bit. But man, that old joint was special.

Morning all. Stayed in bed until after 8am, so not much time between then and heading for Sunday dinner at Outback around 11am (I’m an early eater on Sundays to avoid the church crowds). The some gym time and maybe wander around a bit. Heck, I mopped the kitchen yesterday, maybe I’ll follow up and clean the bathrooms…

boo fae, same here, the driving doesn’t seem to have abated much, albeit in this area of the USA there is pitifully little public transport available.

Ex-Expat (that’s Paul was in Saudi), you have a great deal more patience than most of us.

FCM, hope you’re writing that schedule down, sounds like you’re going to be busy.

OK, need to make myself presentable to be out in polite company. All y’all have a good S
Sunday.

Good morning everyone.

I slept in big-time due to a very restless night. I rolled out bed around 7:30 though because I had to make sure that Polar got his Rymadil and morning treat.

It’s wet outside, so yard work will be deferred. I need to do laundry and stuff anyway.

Premium gas, which I have to run in the Jeep and the BMW is $5.63 a gallon (or was on Friday). I am sure prices will only continue to climb because we have Independence Day coming up and it’s summer. It’s total BS, is what it is. Thank god for rewards from the grocery store, because that saved me a dollar a gallon off the regular price on Friday. I too have noted that traffic has returned to pre-pandemic levels. Actually, it seems even more crowded. I don’t let my Jeep drop below half a tank; too painful to fill it up otherwise.

While I am happy to be back online with a brand new computer, I confess to not the computer very much. It’s filled with bloatware, it’s also running on Windows 11 which will take some getting used to. I think I’ll have my son-in-law take a look and see what he can get rid of on this rig because it just seems much slower than my old computer. It’s actually supposed to be better and faster, so I am sure something is gumming up the works. I’m burned out on trying to noodle this out on my own and the son-in-law will probably have it figured out in mere minutes.

I hope you and FCD get the whole wiring thing figured out, FCM. I think I would have lost patience by now and let my wallet take care of it. On the other hand, you’re both engineers so you’ll probably get it.

I have to go into the office tomorrow and I donwanna. At least it won’t be a Friday commute.

I seem to have missed flyboy’s birthday yesterday! Belated happy happy! :tada:

I’m a big baseball fan, and the ex that I used to live with is a big baseball fan (we had Nationals season tix), and at one point we tossed around the idea of an MLB vacation. We started mapping out parks and looking at game schedules, but we broke up before that trip could happen. It’s still something I’d love to do one of these days; I’ve been to an embarrasingly small number of major league parks. I could definitely see a minor league trip being a lot of fun, too!

I’m so glad I went out last night. Not only did I know everyone in the band – they sang/played their asses off! – but I also saw some other “jazz friends.” This will sound vain, but I got a lot of compliments/comments on my weight loss and I kind of needed that. And I got recognized as a singer by another audience member (he and his wife were at the jazz festival where I performed in February), which is always gratifying, and got a really nice compliment from a fellow musician about a song he’d heard me perform in March. I kind of needed that, too.

I am more than happy to have no plans today, and also glad there are no chores to be done. It’s an overcast and rainy day, and currently on the chilly side (69°F at 11:30 AM) though it’s supposed to get up to 81. And there might be a thunderstorm this evening. Perfect day to be a lump on the couch (accompanied by a dog-shaped lump). Next weekend will be busy, as will the following week, so I’ll take advantage of the quiet while I can.

I have a couple more things to do online while I’m at my computer before I transition to the living room, but I’m looking forward to my eventual lunch. I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned that I recently discovered I can tolerate frozen burritos…? I hadn’t tried them sooner because they tend to be 4-6 oz and I wasn’t eating that much at once, plus I wasn’t sure about the carbs in the wraps. But it turns out I can eat them just fine, and they are my new favorite thing for lunch (yummy, quick, and many are good sources of protein)!

In most cases, yes. And very few people are happy about it! But my weight-related health conditions were getting pretty serious, so for me it wasn’t even a consideration. Having big boobs vs making it to 70 was a no-brainer.

(IMO, no one should have this surgery unless their health is truly at stake; it’s possible to be obese without significant related issues.)

You didn’t miss it. This year it falls on International June the 12th Day!

Thanks!

Oh, yay! I noticed the birthday cake icon on a post of yours that was timestamped “12 hours ago,” so I thought I’d missed it. Turns out that icon will appear on any post of yours – however old – if the current day is your birthday. I got confuzed.

Happy Birthday flyboy!!!

(good catch oopsie!)
