Did you catch it - the gloatingly hilarious, yo-mamma-esque slamming that Jon Stewart laid on the city and people of Boston last night? It was truly a thing of beauty - and it never. freakin’. ended - he really had fun with it. At the end, when he said “and if you think this is in retaliation to all of my writers and crew from Boston who have been taunting me for months - you’re g*dn, muthafking right it is!!” I just about died.
On the first show since it went on hiatus because of the writers’ strike, Jon Stewart announced that it wasn’t really “The Daily Show” without the writers; instead, it was simply “A Daily Show”.
I DVRed Conan last night to see how it came out. Haven’t watched it yet, but it struck me that this bit filled up most of at least 2 of the 3 shows. Much easier than memorizing the bits.
I know where Jon was coming from. My brother moved to Boston (we were brought up in NY) and became a Patriots fan (the traitor.) He’s been bugging me all year about how great they are. I didn’t laugh. Much.
