Does anyone remember from their childhood at school or at any number of other places when this person dressed up in a full gorrila suit would suddenly appear and present an adult in the room with some kind of gift or message?
I simply did not not read to deep into this at the time, but there has to be more to these gorrilagrams than meets the eye.
What adult would send another adult a gift or message via an adult dressed in a full gorilla suit?
WTF???
Who the Heck would do this to a friend, family member, or coworker?
Perhaps it is some bizzare form of stalking with some intent to transmit a threat or warning?
There have been multiple sightings of these gorillas right here in the United States as well.
You know, here in the USA in recent years there has been a preponderance of reports and sightings nationwide of people claiming to be stalked by people dressed in creepy clown costumes.
Some of these clowns were actually dangerous.
I just hope all of these would be future stalkers don’t all decide to start wearing gorrila suits.
This might be socially acceptable in Australia, but here in the states it’s just plain weird!
Well, if they approach you, just don’t talk to them and you’ll be fine. Probably.
The thing is, with that dark-colored costume, they could sneak up on you easily enough at night. At least we never had to worry about that with the killer clowns.
Sorry, got interrupted. I remember when this was one of many -gram choices, singing telegrams, clowns, strippers, and the infamous candygram (don’t open the door, it’s a landshark). I imagine it’s done for entertainment. I own a really nice gorilla mask and it never fails to entertain. I think I’ve only worn it on Halloween so everyone understands the purpose but I’ve had a lot of fun with my favorite schtick of trying to pay for things with bananas. I drove with it on a couple of times but began to worry about causing an accident. If there’s some new spate of gorillagrams I hadn’t heard, but we don’t live in the same world of some 40 years ago when I acquired my first gorilla mask. Even on Halloween I wouldn’t wear it someplace that it wouldn’t be understood. I wanted to wear it with an N-95 mask on as well (on the outside) during the height of COVID, but retail establishments were already having problems with no mask rules to thwart crimes conflicting with health requirements.
I think a person in a gorilla mask, or the rest of a gorilla costume popping in front of kids would be much worse than doing so in front of adults. Is this how it works anyway? Does someone in a gorilla suit “suddenly pop up in front of” someone? How does that work? I usually got noticed quite a distance away.

Assuming the delivery takes place with the coordination of someone who’s in on it, I guess it’d go over well enough at a restaurant, a pub or even a hospital. But imagine it happening at someone’s workplace, at a bad time, when the “victim’s” boss is scolding him/her for a screw-up.
I hope you know I was messing with you in my second post. Seriously now, yeah, it’s not something that would appeal to me in any context other than making a child happy, and I imagine many small children could find it frightening.
Same here; I vaguely remember the “gorillagram” thing from the '70s or '80s. My recollection is that they were as much a societal trope as they were a common thing that people did or gave; I recall seeing the idea on TV shows, but no, I never saw one IRL – but, for that matter, I never saw, nor knew someone who received, a gorlliagram, or any other sort of novelty “-gram.” (FWIW, I never saw a streaker, or knew anyone who owned a Pet Rock, either.)
And, of course, no one is going to mistake a person in a gorilla mask or costume for an actual gorilla, though I suppose there would be a moment of shock/surprise when one answers the door, and sees a guy in a gorilla costume.
No. Just, no. I think that the OP has a particular bug up his backside about this idea, and has a particular phobia about either gorillas, or gorilla suits being used to hide a threat.
No. I have no fear of goriilas, even though the silverback gorilla is one of the most dangerous animals alive.
Unlike back in the 1970’s and 1980’s, stalking was simply not a significant part of the public consciousness as it is today. This was around the time when gorrilagrams were cleary identified as a fad in the USA.
I can’t prove it, but Iam convinced that the gorrilagram has been used as a tool for stalking.
