Well, I grabbed the phone and was listening to the woman tell me that they don’t serve off the menu items at the exact moment that I was reading Rasta’s post. Darnit!! D’arcy’s really is about the horseshoes so that bites.

OK, I talked to the manager babe specifically about what D’Arcy’s catering entails. She said that it’s basically what you’d find at a wedding reception: baked ziti, roast beef, upscale sandwiches, etc. No horseshoes. She also said she charges per person, as opposed to charging by what you eat.
Flypsyde, what do you think about the Barrel Head on Wabash? They might have ample meeting space, and since it’s more of a bar atmosphere, we might have a better time there than we would at a restaurant. And I here their horseshoes are satisfactory.

Guys, I’m really sorry I’ve been so scarce, but I’ve been laid low by the flu. If I feel up to it, I’ll call Cheddar’s tonight, and warn them that we’re invading them at 6:30 and will wait it out until they seat us, the bastards.

I’ve just been queried by Tequila Mockingbird regarding my attendence, and Miami isn’t REALLY that far, and she SAID she’d kiss me, so I’ll look into the free Delta and American flights into Spiffled, St. Loowy, or Loowyville. This looks like it would be worth the trip!
I can arrive STL 9:34am Sat the 7th. Anybody have a seat after that time I can grab?
Or, I can arrive STL 12:18pm Friday, play hooky from work, and ask if anybody has a seat I can grab around THAT time so I can get sloshed on TWO days in a row?
My only avail return to the SunShine State is deperting 7:55pm Sunday, so I should be over the hangover by then, and any seats headed south will be grabbable.
One way or another I’m gonna be grabbin’ some seats!
Just another call for anyone who knows a decent babysitter in the area? We would love to come to it and meet everyone, but need to have a sitter out there to be able to do it.
Some recent developments…
I’ve e-mailed Flypsyde asking his permission to take over the reigns, as some new information has come to light.
Today I went to a place called The Barrel Head. They offer quite a few advantages that Cheddar’s does not offer:

[li] They have a very “local” vibe that Cheddar’s does not.[/li][li] They can gladly accomodate all of us and will accept reservations. The dude I talked to today said that they’d probably just reserve a quarter of the place for us.[/li][li] They are more bar and less restaurant, so the drinks are likely to be cheaper than they are at Cheddar’s and will thus flow more freely.[/li][li] They’ll accept reservations. Did I mention that already?[/li][li] They have horseshoes.[/li][li] Their menu is otherwise decent. Nothing fancy- yer basic pub grub (burgers, sandwiches, pizza).[/li][li] They have horseshoes.[/li][li] They have plenty of parking.[/li][li] They’ll accept reservations.[/li][/ul]
The only read disadvantage to The Barrel Head is that it’s nowhere near any hotels. The nearest hotels are in a shopping district a good mile and a half away. But I’m sure those who fly in can work something out, for Heaven’s sake.
If Flypsyde grants me permission to take over the reigns, I will begin a new thread, with me as the official MC of course, with directions, official starting times, etc.
Well, question on the hotel/car thing. Clearly we’ll have enough cars to get people there and back. Are we planning on doing an after party in the hotel again? Also, how many people are planning on not drinking?
If the answer to #1 is yes, I’ll volunteer to hold back at the restaurant to have SOMEONE sober to drive. Otherwise…how cheap are taxis?
Well, this ain’t Chi-town, so you’d have to call for a cab, but pretty reasonable IMO.
