We could have two polls: one for the continental us (leaving out Alaska and Hawaii) and the second for everywhere else: Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, each Canadian province, and the other countries starting with the largest. Except we would need a a preliminary thread to identify smaller places with a Straight Dope reader.
