My copy has arrived today, courtesy of amazon.co.uk. Given that I intend to participate in Nanowrimo this year, and that the US publication date is November 7th, I need to get this book out of the way in the next eleven days.
Hopefully that won’t be a problem, despite fighting Elenfair for the book every day.
Has anyone else succumbed to temptation and ordered it from overseas to get it as soon as possible?

I didn’t go to the post office today. I wonder if my copy was there.
I’ve ordered the last three from Amazon UK, to get them faster, and because I like the cover art better. But the UK cover art this time is kinda blah, compared to the covers from Clash and Storm.
Sigh. The books aren’t ever going to match. 
I can hardly wait. All I have is time. My part-time job consumed two hours this week.
Definitely on my list of ‘must reads’ for the year. I don’t think its out at the stores yet here unfortnately. My wife says next month. I love the series so far…I just wish this guy could write a bit faster!

lno you magnificent bastard! I bow to you, it didn’t even occur to me to order it from amazon uk. I just sat here stewing about how lucky the Brits were that they got the book so much earlier than we did. By the time it gets here at this point I could probably just buy it in a store, but you better believe I will be first in line the day it comes out.
It’s 684 pages of chapters, plus 64 pages of characters sorted by house. Some readers may be unaware that GRRM had nearly twice that number of pages written without completing the book, and ended up splitting the text to make it possible to publish. Rather than telling half the story of all the characters, he tells all the story of half the characters. From his author’s note at the end, regarding characters not present in this book (spoiler tagged, just 'cos):"Tyrion, Jon, Dany, Stannis and Melisandre, Davos Seaworth, and all the rest of the characters you love or love to hate will be along next year (I devoutly hope) in A Dance with Dragons, which will focus on events along the Wall and across the sea, just as the present book focused on King’s Landing."84 pages in and going strong. I wonder if I can call in sick tomorrow…
Just finished it last night.
Enjoyed it a lot, it was a good continuation of the story. Looking forward to covering the stories of the characters passed over in this book. I did have a couple of niggles
Did we REALLY need the Cersei/Teana sex scene?
Ok it was nice to see her scheming come home to roost, but is she really that stupid? I thought the High Septon isolated Cersei way too easily
A good read though. Liked the Daenerys excerpt at the very end. Ominous times ahead!
