A Festivus For The Rest of Us. A Grievence MMP

Is it Monday already?
I tend to neglect the MMP toward the weekend. It’s not that I don’t like all of y’all. I guess my attention span just isn’t what it used to be.

Butters, sounds like you’re doing everything in a very smart way regarding the hubs’ business. It’s great that you have people you can trust to help you out. Sounds like a good visit with the son as well. Hopefully you’ll get to see him more often.

{{Thelma}}, so sorry you’re feeling down. I enjoy a little solitude now and then, but when it’s forced on you for months on end that’s a whole ‘nother story. Wish there was more I could do to help.

I had an elevated heart rate for the past couple of days for no apparent reason. My Very Smart Wife (VSW, trademark pending) thinks I may have more anxiety than I think I do about being out of work and the general state of the world, and that’s what was causing it. I was going to call my cardiologist this morning if it was still happening, but so far today I’m back to normal levels. Which supports the anxiety theory, I think. My subconscious didn’t want to bother the doctor.

I’m supposed to have an annual echocardiogram and cardiology consultation (for reasons I may explain here at some point), but I’m way overdue. I’ll make an appointment after the plague is over.

Don’t know how to tell you this swampy. But in the months that I’ve known you, you do not come across as grumpy old man in any sense of the words. Maybe shoot for cute, cuddly curmudgeon?

My country :us: takes the cake (or maybe Christmas :australia::anguilla:pudding) too. Fie on both of them!

Right…need a cuppa then on with the day’s list.) too. [/quote]

Always the right next move. If you do it right you can avoid the list altogether.

Assuming this is a typo, but it actually still works. I’ve had those kind of cats :cat2: and cars :blue_car:.

It’s been raining heavily all morning. Now it’s turned to snow.

You are devotedly connecting with other humans this way-the people whose tummies you are filling, who can then feed their kids, feel warmly touched by the kind stranger they’ve never met (you), I promise. I wish it came with hugs and sitting in companionable silence for you though. I’m sitting in admiration and respect for you from afar, if that helps.

How well I know. In April I didn’t foresee this getting to me. Now it is laying me way low-scarily I must admit.

Didja choose that word ‘screwing’ on purpose shoe? We all saw that, including those who are too refined and delicate to point it out (you know who you are).

Sighing wistfully, what I would give to do that with any one of you all.
“My kingdom for a horse…”

Pretty sure BoJo hasn’t run out of complications to drop on you yet, just guessing.

My plan too. Pajamas, robe and slippers will be as planned out as I get. I may brush my hair in case one of my kids FaceTimes me. My 3 cats will go au naturel I just cannot get them to keep on their slippers. Interferes with zoomies I guess.

Yes, this. Already got in stock my quart of almond milk nog and a liter of brandy for the occasion. Which is unusually prepared for me-shocking. My plan is to switch to magic hot apple cider when the nog runs out. Takeout Chinese food for the festive meal-with enough for leftovers. My Canadian SIL introduced me to that lovely tradition and I thoroughly enjoy it. I can still have Christmas duck, it will just be Swechwan duck.

I’m so glad! :slightly_smiling_face:

Rearranging of furnitures has begun.

As it stands, the upstairs second bedroom serves as VSW’s office and guest room. We very rarely have guests, and she was getting tired of the bed taking up space in there. So the plan is to make the downstairs bonus room (which serves as my office/exercise space/rec room) into the guest bedroom.

Step one was bringing the treadmill upstairs to live in VSW’s office, which was both easier and harder than we expected. Easier because there was plenty of room in the stairwell and it went right up with very little maneuvering, even with a 90° turn. Harder because that sucker is heavy, and it took much more brute force than I expected. I is pooped, and we’re taking a bit of a break. Step two will be moving the bed down the stairs. Gravity will help with that, so should be little problem.

Mrs. L.A. had a patient today. She’s just cancelled the visit due to snow.

Guess where the biggest cloud bank is…

I can’t tell. There’s too much snow coming down.

Hi, honeys, I’m home!! Nice visit at Mom’s, lots of loot for Roxy, too much food, and long drive home. But it’s finally quiet and shortly I’ll be joining FCD in chill mode. He figured out what the problem was with the analysis he was trying to run, so he should be able to finish it in the next couple of days. WHEW!

It’s been a day. Glad it’s over. Hugs to all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave and sort.

You snooze you lose. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{{Butters}}}} Glad something is going your way for once.

{{{{Thel}}}} if we were closer we could sit together.

May I scoot a chair over too?

The snow eventually gave way to rain. I took the Jeep out while it was still snowing heavily to take some Christmas cards to the Post Office. I saw the mail truck at the end of the street, so I just chased Herr Briefträger down and gave the mail to him. It was slippery, even in 4WD. Then I went round to the corner market for… ‘de-icing fluid’. Having a glass of cabernet now.

Dinner tonight will be mahi mahi slathered in a mixture of mayonnaise and tarragon and covered with bread crumbs, and baked; with a side of mixed veg.

Anyway, I’m sure the rain won’t melt all of the snow. It’s going to be a slushy trip to the freeway in the morning.

Please. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks, y’all. Doing better this evening. :slightly_smiling_face:

Evening all. Let the Red-Headed Girl take care of dinner, trying to not overload the dishwasher until tomorrow. All clothes in their proper positions and folded (except the socks–they are all identical so they just form a large clot in the drawer).

Finally got mail (didn’t have any since last Thursday), but still no credit card or gas bills, which I usually have by now. Hopefully they’ll come tomorrow or I won’t be able to take care of them until Sattiday.

Wheelie, my back hurts in sympathy for your moving. One reason I only have a single-story house. And if the heart rate problems come back, maybe don’t wait for the EKG and consutation until an undefined ‘later’.

BBBoo, yes I meant cats, although I am sure boofae has a nice car too.

Thel, bought 2 pair, one black, one blue. Good thing I did because I opened the package with a utility knife and put a 2" slash in one of them…wonder if Duct Tape works on slippers…

OK, back to internettin’ and them some readin’ and TV’in’. All y’all take care.

:takes pole: doggio, my grievance with you is that you neglected to include Solstice (today) in the week’s holidays. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{butters))) I’m glad that you got a good visit with your son and his partner and have another upcoming one. I hope that you get some relief for your knees soon.

Welcome back shady!

{{{wordy and mom}}} I hope that the spot is nothing major.

Irked (over), came home and am fixing to do KP from supper. Then it’s chill time.

A joyous solstice to all who celebrate!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Well, Happy Solstice ya filthy heathens!

I echo this, harumph, the nursey person peers over her spectacles at you…don’t make me use my night nurse voice on you.

Try super glue first, then duck tape. Or mail ‘em to me and I’ll cobbler stitch them back together for you. Of course, if they are my size, I won’t mail them back.
