A Festivus For The Rest of Us. A Grievence MMP

nellie, I’ve been there a couple of times with desktops just dying. Glad the endo procedure is over.

Glad you are getting the car issues fixed hippy

shoe, personally, I would flake some of your smoked trout off and put it on a piece of flatbread or a bagel with cream cheese. Have you considered meeting your Tinder date at a park ( I know, I know, Michigan in December) with a thermos of a hot drink? I know the meet in public options are limited right now.

{{{gotti}}}

Irked, came home, walked Nelson, et and am chilling in front of the TV now. Such excitement! :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Evening all. Got my Xmas presents to the neighbors (and got theirs in return) and since all the dishes are now clean, I did my once-a-month trip to 5 Guys for dinner (I iz stuffed–those fries are sooooo good…) and filled the gas tank. Am now chillin’ until bedtime. Still need to pack, but for 2-3 days I can put things together in 10 minutes with no problem (been a traveling man in my life). Also bathed/washed hair so I smell nicely when I arrive at Brother’s.

{{gotti}}, sorry to hear about your friends; stay strong.

wordy, glad to hear the good news for Mom-unit. May she keep doing well.

OK, need to make a list (he has a little list…) of to do for tomorrow and then off to bed. All y’all take care and if I don’t have the chance, a Merry (even if it’s a *()^&%^ time) Xmas.

flyboy, hope the homeward journey didn’t end up with a left turn at Albuquerque…or a destroyed knee.

nellie, I trust you were numbed up enough not to feel all that work; take care.

quietly, I hear they are making new Animanic episodes–wonder if they’ll include the pigeons again.

Dice, hope Dad does good and does Mom have friends/church you can contact to be with her?

Nut, some doctors are ass(circular pit in ground); Hope you’re doing better.

FCM, you are going to take Xmas off, aren’t you? (Talk about your husband being a workaholic…)

Screw Tinder Guy this dinner is more interesting, if emotionally less satisfying.

The crusty rolls soaking up the schmaltzy sauce are worth killing/dying for.

Ah, great, imma eat like a starving vulture in front of TV then fall asleep 45 minutes before he texts me. I can tell.

Oh, well. One of my managers at irk pointed out that I’m losing weight. It’s obvious I’ve not been eating adequately.
Dude From Tinder you may hafta wait. It’ll be worth it, if I can regain some lost weight properly.

The fat-soaked potato will help.

And, in my regrettable experience, cats zooming.

Little tip, just right before your Tinder meet-up, hold off on the roasted garlic til the date is over unless he imbibes along with you. A roasted garlic based picnic outdoors on a park bench in December in northern Michigan? It would be a unique date at least!

Timed to land in his lap, leaving a huge grease stain, forever looking like he just wet his pants. And his favorite pants too.

@purplehorseshoe

Loved the music video. Thanks! Sent you one back in return.

(snicker) Your naivete about call center life is really cute. We had TWO sups handling 40 agents worth of need, while the third sup was babysitting the nine-ish newbie fledglings in “nesting” training this week. We have a reference page where there’s this pile of BS billing itself as a “management commitment” to do things like be there to support us. This is only reality in either corporate dreamland or the Mirror Universe.

If anyone cares, I had the notable lack of sense to shop at Walmart tonight. Yes, three days before Christmas. Went for gloves (cannot find any I previously acquired and it is COLD out in the mornings lately), emerged with same, plus a few other items, including a party-size frozen lasagna currently baking in the oven. If it’s dinner tonight, it’ll be a stupid late dinner. More likely for future evenings in the near future, plus a work lunch for me. At least I have Friday off.

And why did I feel I HAD to go get gloves in person instead of via The Jungle? Because I ORDERED them from the Jungle yesterday, supposedly to be delivered today. Today, retrieved my phone after irk and one of the first things that popped up was that my gloves would be delayed until tomorrow or Thursday. It’ll be damn near freezing on my morning commute TOMORROW. Thus, the in-person shopping scramble. At least Walmart’s Scan&Go is quite helpful. Love that function.

Well our totally worthless so called Grand Cheeto made Christmas Eve a holiday. I’ll take it. I was a slug today. I irked from home and rested my bum knee. I go for second set of joint oil tomorrow and I believe I’m gonna ask for an MRI. There is more going on with this left knee that just arthritis. Arthritis does not hurt to the touch on the outside of my leg below the kneecap. Always, always something.

Glad overly Mom didn’t have anything new to fret over. Thelma I’d come by and sit outside your window were I close enough.
Gotti so sorry about your friends. Too much sadness this year.

I didn’t pack my clothes today like I had planned. Buddy didn’t get a bath. It’s really a little cool to bathe him. Maybe he will get a sponge bath. But my knee needed exactly what I did so that’s what I did.

Come on 2021. Let’s see how much better it will be. Our anniversary is the 31st. So in the span of less than two months I will have had his birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year and our anniversary.

I hate how the OP misspelled “grievance”!

And when are we getting around to the Feats of Strength, anyway…?

Strength? Watch out for shoe and the garlic…

Herald, I like your humor.

Dad should be one hour in of his 1.5 hours of surgery (was supposed to start at 9:00 pm in Seattle). The hospital said my mom could be there, but my dad doesn’t want my mom there, probably because he doesn’t want to worry about her driving home tired. Typical behavior.

My mom’s been good and told all the neighbors and her inner circle at church. Since she and my dad have been really strict about isolating, she doesn’t want anybody in the house.

The hospital said she can be there tomorrow as well, so she’s planning to go in Wednesday morning (it’s already Wednesday morning for me - this 9 hour time difference is messing with my head more than usual).

Good news about the non-biopsy wordy.

{{{gotti}}}

Ordered Indian for lunch. I think I may have planned too much food for the long weekend. At least some of it will freeze well.

And after last night’s Youtube and Netflix viewing, I want to make Alton Brown’s peanut butter fudge. Something I really don’t need to make until I can share it with coworkers. Looked yummy.

Operation’s done!

Only took 30 minutes, went well. Should be another 5-6 days in the hospital and then he can go home.

My mom says she’s been getting lots of texts and also phone calls.

WOO HOO!!!

(now I just have to talk to my phone about notifications)

Woke back up to a couple of sexytexts and a house absolutely redolent of garlic. Odd combo.

Damn. Way to rip off those bandages, I guess.

Yeah, delicate flower. That’s me…

And for the record, this photo is from 1999. I was helping a friend build a garage.

I have an appointment for a physical at 11:30. My insurance requires that the doc see me periodically to make sure my meds are doing the job, and this is the day. I say doc, but she’s a PA and I love her to death! I know she keeps cheat sheet notes on my chart, but it’s as if she remembers me and my life, and that’s nice.

I’ll be working primarily in the garage today, getting it organized and moving things around so I can open the back door of my car - the set of shelves will be moved to an empty corner. I’ll create a pile of stuff for my daughter - she’s left random things in random places and I want them gone. I may even sweep out there! :open_mouth:

MetalMouse - yeah, I’ll probably chill on Christmas day. We’re going to our daughter’s place for breakfast and a gift-a-thon. My breakfast contribution gets built the night before and popped into the oven once we get there. And since it’s at her place, she gets to do the dishes!

Butters - your multiple events made me realize that some day I may face a similar situation. FCD’s b-day is in Nov and our anniversary is in Dec. Then again, maybe I’ll be senile by then and won’t know the difference… <glaring at the peanut gallery, daring anyone to say anything…> Hope you have a wonderful time with your son.

Still waiting for our replacement credit cards, dammit. Every day I run to the mailbox. Every day is disappointment. Woe…

Happy Wednesday, anyway!

Morning, mumpers! It’s grey, drizzly and thoroughly miserable here. Weather app says “Rain is just the cloud’s way of saying “Fuck your hair” - am I right?”, and also says it’s 6C/43F, probably not getting any higher than that.

I was up early-ish and in the gym at 8am, stopped off for petrol on the way home so that tank’s full again, and this afternoon I’m off to delivery gifts to a couple of friends. Then I am parking the car until it’s gym time on Sunday morning. My turn to make dinner tonight, I predict it will be chicken curry because I’ve got a very simple recipe for that, and I am not in the mood for making a huge effort.

My lovely DJ friend sent me his pre-recorded show that airs tonight, so I’m listening to that now, great way to pass the time in between cups of tea.

Dice good to hear that your dad is getting the treatment he needs, shame that he’ll spend xmas in hospital but you know he’ll be well cared for. Hopefully your mum’s neighbours and friends will keep an eye on her too.

Butters that’s a rough bunch of things to deal with in a short space of time. Maybe us mumpers need to come and sit outside your window for a while too.

gotti so sorry to hear about your friends, this year truly sucks.

shoe does the dating app have a section for garlic lovers, just to cut down on the number of guys you have to work through until you find the perfect one?

Right…off to imbibe more of Yorkshire’s finest brew…

I read this as “…off to nibble more of Yorkshire’s finest brew.”

I’ve had stout like that. I got up too early. Damn relentless nosy meowing pesky cats.

Good morning all. Off to eat my oatmeal so I can be at Harriet’s at 7:30am for a bonus day of childcare-her preschool is closed for Christmas Eve Eve. Early present for me!

@purplehorseshoe

One of my favorite local Italian restaurants serves their fresh rolls with a dish of roasted garlic cloves as a spread

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until seven-fifteen! :open_mouth: ‘Tis 35 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 70 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Tomorrow is supposed to be a day of rain/tstorms/apocalypse which means the planned outside four p.m. Christmas Eve service will now be an indoor one. The idea to be outside is because we could space out enough to sing, which we can’t do indoors yet. Oh well. So we will have indoor two and four o’clock services instead. That’s p.m. As for today, we shall make ambrosia cause ‘tis a must for Christmas. I think I have figured out how to scale it down somewhat as the recipe calls for ambrosia for the masses rather than for two people. No goin’ to the sto’ today as we decided we do not want to be near any sto’ food or otherwise today or tomorrow. We shall swipe The General’s chikin for N.O.L. probably and then forage for any later sustenance needs.

MetalMouse be safe out on the roads and have a good time at your brother’s place.

Boo you are evil. Yet another reason to lurve you all the more!

{{{Butters}}} that’s a whole lot to deal with. Go and enjoy bein’ with your son and family. Be pampered. You deserve that.

hippie I’d be tempted to eat nuttin’ but the rolls and garlic. YUM!

shoe I say Tinder guy will keep until you’re ready if he’s really innerested. Loved the video! Even white boy danced around a little while listenin’.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Dice glad all went well with your dad’s surgery. Also glad your mom seems to be doin’ so well with all this.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Showered, dressed, and ready to start in the garage. I’ve got 2 hours till I have to leave for my appointment - wonder how much I can get done. And can I get it done without drawing blood?

We shall see…

Morning all. Up early as usual when I’m traveling, pretty much cleaned and packed, so will leave about 0730 (0655 here as I type). Rain expected once I hit Kentucky and Illinois so I’ll take it easy there.

So Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good Hump Day.

That was too good not to share with the gang. If y’all aren’t sick of the song yet, here’s an excellent rendition:
