Woah, you actually find people who don’t look at you like you have/study herpes when you say that?
I would find that impressive. makes mental note to hunt down any other posts Ilsa may have made about herps
Anywho… I’m at a loss as to why NinjaChick should assume that any guy asking her stupid questions is hitting on her. It’s much more likely they are just being jerks. Perhaps even looking for an excuse to hit her.
As a side note: My “little” brother is 17, a black belt, a hell of a lot bigger than me, and I can still whup him if he’s asking for it. Though I’m not usually into causing pain, so I just tickle him until we get yelled at or something gets broken. I hate fighting, I much prefer having somebody pinned and crying about peeing their pants. I should invent an ancient mystical art of tickle torture…
Because 17 year old guys are stupid and don’t know how to actually talk to women. So they do stupid stuff to try and get their attention and impress them.
Any particular reason for that? Most times, when I hear something like that, it turns out the person tried it and weren’t any good at it, so they feel the need to tear it down so they don’t feel quite so much like a dork? At any rate, your post indicates that you really do need to train in TKD, because some of the things that we stress from day one onward are courtesy and respect, which you appear to lack greatly.
I’ve been studying TKD longer than NinjaChick has been alive. I’m a 5th Degree Black Belt. I agree with just about everything she said.
The world is really divided into two parts:
Those who study martial arts. We realize that we are just scratching the surface and that there is a ton more to learn, no matter how far we get. It’s a humbling experience.
Those who don’t study martial arts. Their knowledge of what we do comes (at best) from watching chop-socky movies on Saturday afternoon. They delight in parading their ignorance of martial arts for all to see. And sometimes they post stuff like “you’re a stupid little bitch”.
Hang in there, NinjaChick. As a First Degree, you’ve accomplished something that not very many people have the perseverance to do. You’ve learned the basics; now it’s time to start learning the art. Best wishes for your continued success.
Zombie thread, and a long one to boot.
Please don’t resurrect threads much older than a few months. Reference the content of the thread and link to it. That way hapless folks don’t end up wading through ancient posts before that nagging sense of deja vue kicks in.
